hey there,

Well, she's not exactly a family member but pretty close to it. My best friend and I have both become
1st time mums with my son being 6 mths older than her daughter. At first, it was pretty exciting and we had heaps to talk about and when I had my son, she was really intrested in him and was buying him toys, clothes etc. Since her daughter has been born, my friend has totally backed off and has no time or any interest in me or my son. She has also become quite competitive in that she will brag about how wonderful her baby is and what milestones she has reached and how many presents she gets etc. I understand that we all have 'time' issues once we have our bubba's and everything and everyone else takes second place, however, our friendship has become strained lately to the point we don't really keep in touch anymore. I'm forever sending her emails etc and even organised a Xmas catch-up and during the whole time her and her hubby and baby were here, she was totally preoccupied with the baby and hardly made any attempt at any conversation with me, whilst our hubby's were on the deck cooking the BBQ. I was really uncomfortable and so I just made some idle chit-chat and got dinner organised etc. What has really upset me was that my DH found out that she had organised a day at the races yesterday with a whole bunch of other girls, but I was never invited. She's not the most approachable person in the world so talking to her will get me nowhere and she'll just pretend that everything is ok. Should I just give up or keep persisting? Has anybody else had this happen with a close girlfriend?

yea i know what its like to have a competitive friend, and it does strain the friendship, but if she isnt putting in the effort into the friend like you are then mayb write her an email explaining to her how u feel and if nothing comes off that, maybe the friendship isnt worth saving :hugs: :hugs: goodluck with it
