My baby is 6 weeks old and after an OK start to breastfeeding, the past 2-3 weeks have been more and more painful. I'm pretty sure it's because she's not latching on properly. I have inverted nipples but we seem to get the attachment right about 1 in 10 (or less..) and then it doesn't hurt at all, so I don't think that's the problem..
These days she's not opening her mouth very wide at all and I find it hard to get my nipple in well. And sometimes she'll be on OK but then seem to slide and it hurts again.. She's always been a slow and a bit sleepy feeder but lately she acts hungry but seems very lazy when I offer her the breast.
SO..., any advice on getting her to open up, or anything else I can do to encourage her to try a bit harder would be much appreciated. It's at the point where I'm dreading feeds and pulling her off before she's finished if she's taking too long and I can't stand the pain.
Thanks
