Hi All,
I have been spending the last couple of hours reading all the posts about egg donation, in particular those written by women seeking donors and I am absolutely touched by your determination to have a family. You all have so much love to give and I wish you all the very best! I wanted to let you all know that though at times your search for a donor must seem futile there are women out there who want to help. I'm only 26 and have not yet started my family, but I plan to donate eggs as soon as I have finished having my planned two children. Good luck to you all! :)

That's great Melissa_bain2002, I myself made a similar decision and am in the middle of treatment. I go in for egg collection on the 16th Jan 2007. The more stories I read about women searching for donors the more I want to give.

Wishing you both luck with your pending families and it is wonderful to hear such kindness and giving others hope.

As you say it must be hard waitng for a donor, but it helps when recipients join in the chats and get to know others, unforunately it is also a bit of a lottery, some recipients find there donors very rapidly in a few days - just good timing, while others can wait for ages due to donors not being around. I have been very fortunate and cannot beileve how lucky I was from my clinic, my ad on another site got alot of support but no interest from donors.

I didn't advertise again, but sometimes you just need to collect your thoughts and think what to do next. There can be a hesitance about advertising, it is very stressful and emotional trying to find someone who will donate and the fear of not having the 'story' that is appealing enough. Recipients do need confidence boosters from time to time and I think you two have just done that beautifully

Lesley,

You have such a wonderful way of saying exactly what I feel and think. I couldn't agree more with what you have said.

The search for a donor is extremely difficult. It is very inspiring when two very generous ladies like the above advise of their willingness to help.

Thank you ladies.

I Would just like to say thankyou to these wonderful women. Without generous people like you in this world we would never have the chance to experience what life is like with a child in it. I hope your future Ip's realise how lucky they are to have your help and I'm sure when my time comes I will cherish my angel for many years to come. :hugs:

Oh Melissa, I can see a big heart in tham there words girlie!

Never too early to start learning about it all you know, but best of luck starting your own little brood...is amazing how many women take that plunge when they are either pregnant or breastfeeding or weaning. Can see you might be the same.

Lovely of you to take the time to spread some warmth - ED recipients are troopers of the heart and go through so much.

xx

Hi
Like MnM, I've been a member for a while but am still really only starting out on the board.
I've just read this thread and want to say that it really has lifted my spirits.
It is a hard road and to read the thoughts of a true angel really does help.
I take my hat off to all of you

This is a lovely thread Melissa, thanks for starting it.

Since I started looking into egg donation (just 6 mths ago now) I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of women out there who selflessly go through a lot of physical and emotional discomfort for complete strangers - although great friendships seem to be formed from it.

I think the secret to this whole thing has to be education and communication. The more people who hear of infertility and it's impact on people's lives, the more will hopefully be moved to help. My dream is that one day donating eggs will be as straightforward and known as donating blood. So should my daughter be inflicted with what I have, she will have an easier path to travel.

Thank you all you lovely ladies for sharing your stories and intentions.

well done Shell,

I'm sure your IPs will be delighted with those 8 little googlies you have given them. I hope one turns into a much longed for baby.

And Shanilee, good luck with that new bub on the way. Not long to go now. And as Mauve says, thanks for giving hope to the many women out there who have difficulty TTC. You will be the silver lining to their cloudy days
