Have any of you made definite plans re: work? ie. how much time you'll take off work...when you'll return to work?

When I leave work (probably around May if not earlier) it will be for good as I want to be a stay at home mum for a good 2-3 years.. Even if I wasnt preggers I was going to be leaving the job im in currently this year, want to study and get into something better
Im only casual anyway so I wont even get maternity leave.
Im planning on working right up until the end, well a week or 2 before my due date is possible.
I have an office job so i cant see it being too much of a problem.
Planning on having 12 months off, and not sure if i will return to my current position, i will probably look for a government job i think.
With DS I worked til 2 weeks before he was due. With #2 I am thinking I'll leave mid to late June about 4 to 6 weeks before bubs is due, even though I am expecting it to be late.
As for how much time I'm taking off, hopefully not going back but we get paid mat. leave so don't want to resign before that finishes...
With DS I went back to work when he was 8 months old and am really hoping to be a WAHM and SAHM.:)
I know this thread was started a while ago, but I'm struggling to make a decision about when to leave work!
I've been given the option to go part time at 30 weeks (cut my hours in half), up until 35-36 wks, or just work full time until about 34 weeks...... but have no idea how i'll feel by then, it's too hard to make a decision! and they need to know now!
what's everyone else doing?
I dont think they can push you to make a decision now!!!
Im pretty sure (someone correct me if i am wrong) that you only have to give 4 weeks notice in writing of when you intend to finish work and how long you plan on having off. Whilst on MAT leave if you wish to extend or reduce that time, the same thing, 4 weeks notice in writing.
If it were me in your situation, i would work the full time up until as long as I felt comfortable - so if that meant past 34 weeks then fine, i would work until 36/38 or what ever. I just think the extra $$ would come in handy.
I do have an office job, so thats probably why it doesnt seem to bother me too much. What type of job do you have??
I suppose you need to ask your self:
Will i need the extra money $$
How do i think i will cope with stress/pressure at that stage of pregnancy.
If i do feel unwell/tired, is there a chance i could leave early or go home sick on those now.
If you answer NO to all of those, take the part time option babe!!
Its a hard one

I'm leaving work at 36 weeks I work in a bank in an office. A month before our little fraggle is due
I was told via my middies that if you work more than that, you body finds it hard to relax and become ready for the baby. I'm leaving and have already booked myself into a dayspa to get relaxed and pretty. Thinking that if I feel relex it might help for a clam birth.
My manager really wanted me to lock in a last day, so they can train someone to do my job.
I leave on June12 get paid until Oct 12 and return to work for 6 month on July 01 2008
Good luck

I'm a SAHM now so i won't be going back to work as such.
We decided after #2 i wouldn't go back, cause we actually lost money if i went back part time, and i didn't want to go back full time and put my kids in child care, i just can't do it!
Once they are all at school i'll think about getting a job or doing study, i am only 23 so there is plenty of time!
