Sarah

where does the time fly, can't believe the ball is already rolling Diana must be so happy to start the new year on such a positive note.

We will be having a busy week, my scan the 16th my b'day 18th and your appt the 19th.

I'm adding my news to everyone elses thread - beta today 308,183 vv high but doubling at a wowful 12.5 days though I'm hoping this is only a plateau since the :barf: has subsided, though not fully.

Wishing you the best and good luck with the counselling, remember you've done it before, do mention your last cycle, it will be good to talk about it.

Hi Everyone,

I am having to post todays update as Sarah has gone away for a well earned rest and holiday - just for a few days.

Today, Sarah had her appt with our Dr and all went really well. We have officially started :D .

We are booked in for our counselling session on the morning of Feb 9 and will be following this with an appt with our Dr in the afternoon.

The information I am getting is a little conflicting at the moment - the Dr seems to want to get things moving right away - but the clinic says we can't start anything until end of the 3 month cooling off period  .

Due to the time of day etc. I guess I will have to remain confused for the weekend and try and sort this out Mon/Tues next week.
Either way - I am very :smiliedance: .

Diana:hugs:

Hi Diana
Great to see you're finally 'kicking off'.
Not sure what to make of the conflicting advice, sorry.
Sounds like your dr may possibly just trying to achieve all that can be achieved before the cooling off period expires. Rather than waiting and then starting?
Mind you, I'm in NSW so don't really know much about WA laws.
Either way, I hope you get answers to your questions early next week and that you don't spend too much time mulling it over on the weekend. Easy for me to say
Glad things are moving for you and Sarah.
Good luck!

Thanks Sue and Jo.

The three month cooling off period after the counselling session is only done in WA - it is part of the regulations here. WA is a very conservative state. They have implemented the 3 month cooling off period to ensure that the donor has a chance to reflect on what she is are doing and ensure that she does not feel pressured into donating.

Thats why it is confusing - the Dr wants to start straight away - but the clinic is saying no way until after 3 months cooling off period. Anyway - I will let you know when I can get this sorted early next week.

My counselling session is also on 9 Feb. DH and I will be having a session, Sarah and her DH will be having a session and than all four of us will be having a session. After which I think the counsellor may also need a session to recover   .

Hi Diana

I was thinking of you and sorry forgot to post wishes on your thread, just a bit crook and mind dead at the moment.

I don't know who you are with but I know that for sarah's last cycle they wavered the 3 month coling off period, so if you have the same dr and clinic it shouldn't be a problem, the Dr usually get his way I find in these things. I know at QFG the feeling was not to use donors who had not had children or were young 20's but a phone around the specialists found one that didn't have any issues even though it was still QFG

I hope this helps, you could look at sarahs posts and see as she did write about it during her last cycle.

Best of luck Lxx

Hi Shell,

Congratulations - eight good ones - that is absolutely fantastic  . There some very happy people as a result of your generous actions. I hope that you are not feeling too unwell and I'm glad that everything seems to have worked out with the timing.

Hi Lesley,

Thankyou. As Sarah's away for a few days and I can't access the Dr till next week - I will just have to wait until I can sort this out. Either way I am really happy at the moment - and I'm sure that things will move along as fast as they can.
I sooo hope that you are feeling better soon.:hugs:

Hi all,

Yes I am back like a new woman, dirty but new. Camping isnt the cleanest holiday.
Ok looking back on the past posts I thought I had better add.

Last time I had a donor cycle the clinic waved the 6 month quarinteen period but not the 3 month manditory councelling period.
I had eggs retrieved 2 days after the 3 months was up.
I dont know how it all works but we will have to see.Very excited about it all starting up again.
Well I had better go shower, gee think I am addicted much, posting before a shower:laughing: .
Post soon

Thanks ladies for your kind words and support.

No news to post at this stage.

After making a couple of phone calls in the last few days - I have come to the conclusion - that our rate of progress will probably be determined when Sarah and I go and see our Dr on 9 Feb.

So until than....:D I'll justhave to keep smiling.

Hello Ladies,

Well Diana and I (along with DH's) had our counseling session yesturday.
Thank god thats over....
We will be begining in May which is great as we finally have a date to go off.

We all had a wonderful day together (especially DH's).
After a lovely lunch , the DH's decided to try every beer on the menu and with great success got through nearly the entire range on offer:eek: .

We then came to my house had a great dinner followed by DH's completing the evening attempting to try every beer ever made. Double
Had good laugh's and good conversation all in all a wonderful day.

Will keep you all posted as we get closer to cycling..

Just over three and a half weeks until our next appt at the clinic.

:fingerscrossed: that we get a :bfp: .

Hi Everyone,

Both Sarah and I have now been on the pill for a few weeks now.

I didn't know that something so small could or would affect me so badly. I have been feeling really tired - which of course has resulted in me being grumpy and emotional. Poor DH has copped the full force of my mixed up hormones. Unfortunately, Sarah has been feeling similar to myself.

A little over a week to go - until our appt at the clinic. :fingerscrossed: that we will starting sniffing straight away and we can do away with the pill soon after.

I am starting to get very excited but also feeling very nervous.

Take care
Diana:hugs:

Well hello everyone,

Yep Diana is correct, this pill is awful...
I have left my DH twice :D and the poor children...
I really cant wait till we are off these things, and obviously that will mean we are closer to making Diana and her DH's dream come true.

I can not tell you how very excited I am, I am like a child in a candy store.
June there will hopefully be a :bfp: to post on here and 9 months later a bubby to dote over.
This journey has been longer than most once a donor is found and hopefully the wait will have paid off.

Love to all and those still looking I hope your  is just around the corner.

Hi Sarah and Diana

I can sympathis with the two of you, the pill did't have that much of an effect but after the IVF cycling I was dreadful for months and DH life I think was in danger.

I remember a friend saying that pregnancy made you non human you were no longer a person but a being controlled by hormones, she said she was oh so tempremental. Well my DH is loving it as I have become the most sweetly tempered person much more mellow than usual ( well most of the time). So I hope you do are having the moods up front and a calm and mellow time is to follow.

It does seem a long wait you've both had, but I'm sure the extra time is good for Sarah to get over the last donation and also for you Diana after the IVF cycles you have done.

:fingerscrossed: all is GO GO GO next week

Luv Lxx

wa mum of 4: hi there, i have a question for you. After your first lot of blood tests, did you have to wait a period of 3 months and then be tested again before commencing treatment?

I had my first medical appt yesterday, im the recipient and my sister is the donor. The clinic said my sister has to have bloods done now and again in 3 months time, then we have to wait at least 2 months to get in to start the whole process....

leisurly
02-05-2007, 20:30
Hi Baby dreams

WA mum is in WA and tey have the longest waits, each state is different, here in Qld you can waiver the three months.

What you could ask is could you both be put on the pill so that at least your cycles are being regulated to co-inside, this will help with the timing. My feeling is that it is a big step and to take it slowly only delays things a few months but gives you extra time to get yourself in the best health and maybe a higher chance of that lovely:bfp:

wishing you all the best in your journey, I hope you share it with us.

If you want why don't you open a thread yourself and we can support you and the time will fly believe me.

What L said...
Over here seems to be the worst regulations and waiting times.
Every state is different so I am unsure of what is required in yours.

Good luck with it all...:fingerscrossed: :bfp: on your way.

Diana and I are officially sniffing...:barf:
God it is lovely stuff.
So it is full steam ahead from here, we are so close now.
I would like to ask EVERYONE to keep their fingers crossed for us and that Diana and her DH get their little bundle of joy.

We had a great day yeaturday...After the counselling, clinic and DR's appointments, Diana decided to brave the school run with me.
My children were in fine form:banghead: . Their dad works away so for a couple of days after he leaves they are little nazi's.
Diana got to see them in all their glory...As that hasn't made her run for the hills I am sure she will handle parent hood just fine.:D

So we will keep all you lovely ladies informed ever step of the way. Hopefully answer some questions to those considering donating also.
Hugs to all.
