I have always intended using my ergo pouch with a newborn insert for my latest baby but after a trip to Amanda at "carryingaway" yesterday we worked out that this was not going to work for me and my baby because of our respective body shapes, so I am now the proud owner of a Moby wrap - which is a version of the hugabub - and NOW I get what everyone has always raved about!! I have worn him this morning while doing laundry, talking on the phone, etc - am loving it! I can still see that I will need the ergo once he is bigger (and I love that so much I won't be giving that away for years I suspect) but for now I will be living in the wrap I think!

Another lightbulb moment in my parenting journey:idea:

All RIGHT!! :smiliedance: :yelclap: I love it when someone else 'gets it' like I did. Isn't it wonderful?? I was in awe of how great babywearing is (specially with a hug-a-bub or equivilent) for DAYS after getting my wrap. It was all I talked about  Kinda like how I am now with cloth nappies!!
Good for you!

Thanks!! I have always worn my babies - I am just improving the methods by which I am doing it with each one - a baby bjorn for DD1, a baby bjorn then an ergo and a hot sling for DD2 and now the wrap carrier with DS1 - a lovely process of evolution (and I have sold the baby bjorn and will never go back but love the hotsling and the ergo so am keeping those!)

Do you have a picture of it T?

I have tried the Baby Bjorn, a ring sling and a pouch type sling, none of which I "got it" like you lasses seem to have...

I wanna get it too .

Aren't they just awesome!

I LOVE my Hug-a-Bub. DD is over 6 months and I still use it everyday. It is simply the best thing I have ever used in my 3 years as a Mum!

Proud hugabub using, babywearing Mama here

I have friends that use baby bjorn type things, and they just don't "get it" either. Poor people, they have no idea what they are missing out on!

i am gettingb one. my back is getting very tired, i am even sitting here typing one handed with bub asleep on my other arm! where did you get the moby wrap?

draught
15-01-2007, 10:28
I bought it from Amanda at www.carryingaway.com.au - she is based in Brisbane so you can go and get it from her in person rather than have it mailed - and she will show you how to wear it!

I live in NSW but ordered a moby wrap from her! Great service, great wrap!
I now own a moby wrap, another similar type of wrap (name escapes me right now), an ergo and will soon own a mei tai! DF asked me if I enjoyed collecting baby wearing devices! Mind you, he loves the Ergo!

I'm turning into a baby-carrier addict :o

I have a hug-a-bub, an el-cheapo useless so-called ring sling, am currently borrowing a friends ABA simpklicity sling to try it out, and hace a "real" ring sling on order!

And I have a feeling an ergo is going to come along soon too....

I'm exactly the same! Nothin better then wandering around the air-conditioned shopping centre with a sleeping bub in the hug-a-bub... I love it. My friends don't 'get it' either... When they see the hugabub they assume I've got her in it because she won't settle ...lol... they don't believe that I actually WANT to carry her around!!

I am going to look at the moby when I have next bub.
Do you think its diff with older bubs and depending on temperament of bub? I know my girl didn't like being wrapped but my bub is diff but he doesn't always like being carried.(I have an Ergo and Bear Hug, Hubby has a BearHug too)

Cool Draught!!
I LOVE my HugaBub...DDs not keen on it anymore though :crying: so we only get to use it occassionally. I think it's too restrictive for her?
But I took our hugabub to the hospital with me and less than 24 hours after she was born she was in it and all the middies loved it because we both looked so comfortable and all "loved up"
With the next bub we'll be planning another winter baby so I can use the hugabub again :D

Thats great you love it. I have a ridiculous number of slings and I love the IDEA of them a little more than I love THEM IYKWIM. Although I now have an Ergo and I just need to have more practice so I can get him on my back. Any ideas?

got my moby yesterday. bubs is asleep in it now. But I think I need to do it up tighter because it pulls on my shoulders a bit. But DD is very happy, now she can have her morning sleep on mum, I usually carry her for a bit then put her in bed then she wakes up then I carry her put her in bed... you get the idea. But an hour of carrying her in the sling and she hasnt woken yet!

hey! i picked up my moby yesterday too! what colour did you get dragonflyblue??? i got navy blue (figured it would go with pretty much everything) how have you found using it? i've found it pretty 'user friendly'! IYKWIM

Glad that you are all loving them!!
Dragonfly - the advice I had was to adjust and tighten everything after wearing it for about 10 minutes - when you put it on it should be snug and slightly restrictive - and then the fabric will give a little.

I have just received my Moby wrap yesterday... put DS in it...and i gotta say I get it now too...
I was walking around the house, having lunch and posting all the time he was in it asleep...its great especially now that he's a bit clingy at the moment. Best money I have spent so far...or should I say DH has spent..:yelclap:

naybob easy to use. Thought it looked complicated, but its not. I got moss, I pretty much wear black all the time so thought bubs could do with a calming colour.

Second day wearing it and I tightened it a bit more today and my shoulders are fine. draught thanks for the tip. Bubs loves it. She has been cranky for the past 2 hours, clusetr feeding and starting to do that thing where she bobs her head on my boobs my doesnt attach and starts to get upset. anyway I figured she had eaten enough so i put her in the wrap, and she is asleep. Unfortunately she is face first with both arms up so I cant tuck her head under or she will get too hot. but we love it!

Must be great for reflux babies! she even burps in her sleep.

I just received my first hotsling from Carrying Away.

Has anyone else got one ? Did you find it awkward in the beginning ? I'm trying to work out why bubs looks so squashed up in there ! I got a size 3, perhaps I should have got the next size up
Are their legs supposed to be curled up or straight out ? I've tried the cradle and the front carry but he looks kinda awkward

That's why I never ended up buying a sling! Lil B has reflux, and although she wasn't diagnosed until five months, I knew to keep her upright cos otherwise she's vomit non stop, even in her sleep the poor lil thing! B loves it! And so do I! I actually love going shopping now!
