Hi ladies :)
I was wondering if anyone could tell at what age babies are supposed to have doubled their birth weight.
I ask this because Aiden is 6 and half weeks old and doubled his birth weight by 6 weeks.
I was looking at my second childs weight chart in her health book and she didn't weigh what Aiden does till she was 5 months old and she was on the 40th percentile.
He has gained 2kg's in 3 weeks which is an average of 700gms a week
At first he was gaining around 450gms a week and I thought he was just a healthy hungry boy and that it will slow down, but it's getting worse and worse. I'm worried that he has some sort of endocrine problem. He is feeding alot, but I wouldn't think that it was enough to have him gain so much weight in such a short time

I'm also worried about the gagging noises he makes in his sleep. He sounds really mucousy asleep but fine awake. He also seems to be sucking his rib cage in when he breaths at times. I'm wondering if there is something wrong or I'm just paranoid and these thing are all normal. He has already been diagnoses with reflux and is on Zantac for it and is lactose intolerant and I gice him lact-ezy for that so I can still bf him.

Any opinions would be great thanks :D

Hi,

I too am interested as my little bub has gone from a little 2695g to 4980g in just 8 weeks... maybe he was trying to catch up but even the doctors have commented on his size !

Sounds like you've got a couple of very healthy boys there. Ry went through a stage of putting on 500g per week (for about 4 weeks) - he's always been on top of the charts for weight and height.

The Health Nurse freaked me out about it when Ry was little but I now believe that a big healthy happy child is a great asset. Ry is 17 months old now - still taller than his friends but certainly not overweight. In fact, he hasn't put on weight for 4 months now (has been 14.5kgs this whole time) but is growing taller and running around like crazy !

Heids, as a comparison at 8 weeks, Ry was over 6kgs.

Don't be too concerned - they all grow at their own pace. :D

I wouldn't be too worried either.
My DS was in the top section and gaining a lot of weight when he was a littly too.
Trust me they slow down!
Oliver is now right down the bottom!
I wouldn't worry about it at all. My Oliver did that same noise when he was sleeping too, I'm not sure what it's about but he was on Zantac too.
