My sister is throwing me a baby shower in a couple of weeks and keep telling me all these games she wants to play. like guess the baby food (i wouldn't eat it myself so i wouldn't give it to baby anyway) but its going to be hell. unless i can come up with some less than stupid games.

all i have come up with that is not too game like is and optional word scramble. and one called the birthing baby were you freeze little plastic babies (like from a cake shop) in ice trays with water they get it in a drink the first to melt and birth the baby wins.

i don't mind small games that take little effort but thats it. my bridal shower games were ok as i was ****ed but help me i cant drink now.

If anyone has any ideas about games that can be played while we have lunch and just socialise than i would love to hear them.

you could do the memory game, where you place 10 or so baby items on a table, have it covered, and then show everyone whats on the table for a min and then cover again, and see how many people remembered

there is a game where the others guess how big the mums tum is with a peice of string,

I think a trivia quizz is always good. You can have a list of celebrity names and ask guests to write down their child/ren names. Simple and not too silly. If you don't want to do celebrities, you can do animals and their offspring. Have some choccies on hand for the winner.

See how many baby names the guests can come up with using the combination of letters of yourself and your DP. Then you get to choose your fave out of all those.

There is also the baby shower version of pin the tail on the donkey = which is pin the baby on the breast!! :)

a twist on the memory game - the mum to be leaves the room after everyone has looked at the tray of items for one minute, then the host asks questions about the mum to be, not the tray of items (eg what colour shirt was she wearing? what colour shoes? etc)

A real test of the powers of observation!

fill a nappy with something that looks like poop and stick it under a chair. whoever sits on that chair gets a prize... but only if they open the nappy.

Fill up enough balloons for each guest with water... they have to do an obstacle course with the balloon between their knees. Whoever's "waters" doesnt break and makes it through the course without dropping their balloon (baby) wins!

My bestie did mine. :hugs: She had a cool 20 question quiz about me and hub with prizes for the winner. Questions like...

Where did they meet? (Give a few funny options)
What was she wearing (Again, a few funny options)
What size shoe do u take?
What's your fave colour?
What one baby name u have chosen?
And few questions about your partner.

We did guess the baby with animal cards. So...

Cow, calf
Tiger, cub etc.

Throw in a couple of tricky ones. It's the first to answer and u give them the card, the person with the most at the end is the winner.

Hope that helps a little. I liked the 20 question one.

My baby shower didnt have heaps of games as my sister who was organising it thought they were childish and dumb so we just did some basic things over lunch.

1: We had an avent bottle full of jaffas and the guests had to write down how many they thought were in the bottle, the person who guesed the closest amount won a prize and i got to keep the bottle of jaffas.

2: We had a pretty little notebook that was passed amongst everyone over the duration of the shower for everyone to write a message of encouragement and some tips for the new mother to be. That came in handy and was also a great laugh.

3: We asked everyone to write down a name i could call my baby if i was a celebrity and that was hilarious and i chose the winner.
There was names like gypsy feather beanie rose

Freeze one jelly baby per Ice cube tray. Each geust gets an ice cube and has to suck it till they give birth to their babies,No chewing. They winner is the one who gives birth first.Or you could place cubes in a glass of water the first to melt wins. This was fun and was hard to suck as everyone was laughing so much.

For funcky prizes we went to a DIVA jewellery store and raided the discount shelves. We had great useable prizes that only cost 2-3 dollars.

Luckily we didn't have lots of games at mine, none of us could really be bothered. One thing we did do though was get all the guests to bring along a baby photo of themselves, then we mixed them all up and people had to guess who they were.

If you haven't found out (or disclosed) the sex yet, you could do the wedding ring swinging over the belly test for a bit of fun.

Heard of the most gross thing at one recently, various chocolates were crushed in a nappy and you had to smell them and guess them. Ugg. I think that is revolting:thumbsdown:

I'm sure there are more mature things you can do!
