Hi i have a 13 month old little girl and she is teething! I notice the other day that she had a sore in the corner of her mouth, and when she opened up her mouth she had ulcer's everywhere!
I took her straight to the DR and she is now on antibotoics (she has a ear infection aswell) The Dr thinks it may be thrush so she is on medication for that aswell! I was just wondering if anyone else had been through anything like this!

Hi Shan,

Did the Dr mention anything about Hand, Foot and Mouth disease ? It's pretty common and nothing major but causes ulcers and spots/blisters on the hands and feet as well.

May be worth checking out ! :D

Hi thanks for my reply! When i took her to the Dr's her hands and feet were the first thing he looked at! Im not sure what it is but its so hard watching her just scream in pain! She is'nt eating beacuse they are so sore!

I hope that they vanish soon enough!!!

Thank you!!!

Shan ...

I hope that your little lady is feeling better.

If you are having problems with the ulcers, may I suggest a treatment that I was told to use for my son when he had a hard palate injury.

The ENT specialist prescribed a 20ml drink of Coke 5 times daily. I know that this is the last thing that you would normally give a child of 13 mths, but at this young age they can't gargle salty water. It is really good at keeping sores/wounds in the mouth clean - almost as good as salty water.

The coke cleaned his wound really well and it healed incredibly quickly! He now has a very small scar compared with the original wound (fell on the end of a snorkel - huge v shaped tear!). He was 40mths at the time and referred to the coke as his medicine which means that he doesn't pester us for it now - thank goodness ... he is active enough without it!

Kyra!

Thank you so much for you tip! Wow coke who would have thought!!! Your poor little bub! Ouch!!!

Mia is doing much better now due to all her medication that she was on! My fear now is that she sucks her thumb and has a massive sore on it! We are trying to keep it clean and bandaged up! (god luck mum and dad..)

Thank you for your tip though i will be passing that 1 on!!!

Take care! :)
