Does anyone know if i can treat my pup who has the runs???
She has been off her food since last night and has the runs badly.. she seems fine still running around playing...

i thought make sure she keeps drinking water and it will pass???

My lil pup gets this too, and yes it will pass.

What I usually do (and this is what the vet told me to do) is keep her off all food for 12 hours until her stomach settles again. Keep fluids there for her but just make sure she does not eat anything else. I really hope she feels better soon, poor lil pup!

Sometimes puppies (and older dogs too) get the runs if you change their food suddenly. Dogs don't like too much variety, despite what humans think! their digestive system is not as sophisticated as ours, so pick a good quality premium food and stick with it.

You can supplement with chicken wings or the occasional pigs ear or whatever, but don't chop and change their food around too much. Puppy didn't have a 'special' christmas dinner or anything?

Keep up the fluids and keep a close eye on puppy. It could be simply something she ate or it could be something more sinister. If in doubt - vet.

when my pup had the runs the vet suggested to let them have raw chicken wings and white cooked rice for a week or so afterwards to help there stomach settle. I know its a bit hard now with the not eating but there just liked humans and wont eat if they feel unwell...

Thanks so much advise... DH was worried, but i thought it would pass.

She hasn't eaten anything out of ordinary, although she stayed with granparents for new year and did have a different dry food, maybe it could be that!

HI,
She probabnly ju st ate something ouy of the ordinary, the advice is right starve her for 24hrs then slowly intoduce her normal food, if she gets lethargic or starta vomiting or there is blood in her faeces get her to a vet otherwise she should get over it pretty quickly

My pup did this when we introduced wet food, so we kept him on dry for a little longer.
