Hi Everyone!

I just have a few general questions that have been on my mind lately...any help or comments much appreciated.

My DD is 4 weeks old and being mostly FF with a bottle of EBM a day as she won't take to the breast. At the moment we are on S26Gold but have tried NanHA1 on advice of CHN but weren't too keen on this one.

A few questions I have...
1. DD is pooing green and quite loose (sorry if TMI) - it is kind of like army green colour - she only does about 1 or none a day - is this colour normal?

2. DD normally wakes around every 3 hours for a feed but if she is asleep shall I wake her for a feed if she is going over say 3-4hours (like into 41/2 hours or more during the day) at night we let her sleep.

3. How many bottles a day should she be having - on the tin it recommends 6 but sometimes she will have 7. I am conscious of not over feeding her on the formula as I don't want an overweight baby!

Hmm think that's all for now - did have one other q but can't remember!!

Thanks all! :)

Hello:wave:

Like your DD, my DS would not take to the breast so fully FF by about 4 weeks too!

Yes his poo was a runny army green colour, usually doing 1 per day.

Baileys feed routines changed a bit over the first 3 months, when I thought it was set, it would change. However he was sleeping longest through the night and i never woke him for a feed at night. During the day it was between 2-4 hours for a feed. More feeds in the earlier months. I usually demand fed him in the first 2-3 months and that worked for us. She will let you know if she is hungry.

They say 6 bottles a day from memory but every bub is different, feed your daughter what she wants. Just make sure she is having enough like at least 6 so she doesnt dehydrate. You cant really over feed her on milk I dont think. She is growing so much and needs the milk. Its more so when she is on solids, its easy to over feed them. But honestly my bub was a little bit chubby but now he is on the move he has slimmed right down.

Never worry about over feeding your baby, i used to worry about having a chubby bub too, but chubby bubbys are healthy bubbys:yes:

Good Luck hun and PM me if you need anymore advice!

Hey My son is FF has been since he was 3 weeks old.

1. That poo is totally normal!! Harrison still poo's like that sometimes. It also may have a acidy smell to it.

2. I wouldnt wake her.. They will wake when they are hungry.. I would just Lap up the extra time you have!!! :)

3. 1 extra bottle a day with hardley make a difference....

If thats what your DD requires, it doesnt matter anyway if she gets a little tubby around the edges.. She might even get a bit tubs when u feed her the 6 bottles.. Or even on the breast!!!

Goodluck :)

1: Poos are normal- they will harden as they get older

2: NEVER wake a sleeping baby:no: More for your own sanity really haha. Bubs will wake when shes hungry. If shes not waking up then just leave her to sleep- believe me she will let you know when she wants food:rolleyes:

3: Bubs only eat what they need so if she wants 7 bottles a day let her have them. It wont hurt her. As for not wanting an "overweight baby" every baby comes in a diferent shape and size so dont worry she will eat what she needs- at 4 weeks of age they arnt interested in food for any other reason other than hunger so there is no need to worry
