Hi everyone,
I am looking for some information if you don't mind. I have booked flights to Tassie for myself, DH and our DD who will be almost 3 at the time. We are going for 12 days, flying in to and out of Hobart.

What are some great places to visit with a 3 year old?

What are some great places to stay?

I was thinking of staying 3 to 4 days in each place so we don't have to pack up and move so much. If we did this can we see most things this way??

Also what towns would you suggest to stay in to cover most things to see??

Are there any budget cabin parks etc that would be suitable ?

We have never been to Tasmania before so would like to make the most of the trip.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Bonorong park is great for the kidlets, there is also zoo doo at richmond, the maze and it's a great place for a picnic and see the old jail/convict homes etc. Even has a yum lolly/icecream store!
Cadbury factory MMM yum, you can get there by boat for something fun!
Then down the huon way is the tahune air walk and other things to see and do.
Port Arthur is great too.

Do you think it is possible to get accomodation without booking in advance around Feb / March?

Also any recommended places to stay?
Thanks.

I dont think that you would find it to hard to find accomadation at that time of the year. Certain places might be booked out but theres always another one close by.

The are a few nice places down towards port arthur that are really nice even as far as nubeena and surrounding areas there are really nice beaches down that way to.

If you want to stay in Hobart itself the old wool store is nice:thumbsup: . Not sure what the price is like though.

I found this website you might find it useful hopefully.

I think best places to stay if you want to cover as much as p[ossible would be somewhere in hobart then head for somewhere down towards port arthur/ nubeena ect. Then if you want to visit maria island (nice but lots of walking) you could look at staying somewhere near bicheno/orford. Otherwise there is dover/snug/cygnet and from here you could visit bruny island (never been there so not sure what is like.) Then you could stay somewhere near New Norfolk and visit the National park or the salmon ponds (fish farm) wild life park at westerway (20mins from new norfolk). Not sure what your intrests are but hopefully thats helps you a little anyway.

There is also a nice place at Little Swanport, about an hours drive from Hobart called "Gumleaves". They have a nice lake that you can take canoe's out on, bbq areas and heaps of animals that you can feed, oh yeah the guys can even go fishing for a trout or two! They also have accommodation and a camping ground. About 30 minutes from Triabunna is a place called "Kate's Berry Farm", they have the best home made ice-cream and frozen yoghurt made from all the berries grown on the farm :yelclap:
If you want to travel further up the east coast there is the "Bird Park" and "Sea Life Park" at Bicheno and also the Pancake place along the Elephant Pass.
Hope this bit of info helps in some way.
