View Full Version : Feeling yuck...the heat???
Today I feel pretty crap, I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow.
First, bubs is active as normal but I have the following symptoms:
slightly headachy, shaky, panty liner had a bit of brown d/charge (sorry), temp slightly up (37.2), I feel a bit "spaced out", feet a bit puffy, slight dizzyness/balance a bit off, vision, not really blurred but not quite normal,..and I feel generally weak.
I slept all night on a futon matress in the loungeroom with aircon. on.
Restless sleep.
Have been up to get dd off to kinder then fell back into a deep sleep.
I just woke up about 1/2 and hr ago, and I will ring the hospital if this doesn't improve within the next hr or so.
I was wondering how the heat affected others during pregnancy?
I'm in Melb. where it is a bit cooler today but still hot enough for me to turn the airconditioners back on about 5 mins ago.
Angie.
I'm not even pregnant and the heat makes me feel yuck.
Hope the cool breeze helps today.

Hi there,
Make sure you are keeping your fluids up during the heat as it is easier to dehydrate when your body is working as hard as it is at the moment creating life. Dont be afraid to call your hospitals labour ward and speak to a midwife if your ever really worried, they are there for you while at home as well as when you are first admitted :)

I had two summer pregnancies (two summer's in a row in fact - ) and if I ever do it again, I will definately be planning a winter pregnancy!!
With your own internal heater, hot days are really unbearable when pregnant, your best to try and stay in airconditioning, drink lots of water and have nice soaks in a cool bath (or a swim if you have a pool). Try and rest as much as possible and don't over exert yourself (easier said than done sometimes!!). I ate alot of frozen oranges and frozen grapes - yummo!
We don't have airconditioning, so I went to the movies, the local shopping mall or anywhere that did have airconditioning !!
If your symptoms don't change over the next few days, maybe get a check up with your GP.
Hope your feeling cooler and better real soon! :D
I know how bad the heat can affect im 38 1/2 weeks and yesterday was hell had the air con on most of the day and night and my ankles have recently been swelling a bit also and yesterday it was getting real painful to walk i dont think the heat helped at all:( My ob was saying to make sure stay cool and have cool baths and that putting feet in cold water will help also to reduce the puffiness.
The breeze now is a lot better and is sorta cooling the place down a bit at least
Temps are always higher in pregnancy than normal anyway and your temp doesn't indicate any infection at that level. It's also pretty hot so not surprising that you'd be a little warmer as a result. I'd be more concerned about any visual disturbance than a temp. Are you eating plenty protein and avoiding sugar? Lots of water will help too. If you have some Floradix (gentle but brilliant iron supplement) than have some of that too. If it tastes lovely then you know you need it. If it tastes like licking rusty nails then your iron is probably ok. Above all, drink plenty of water and eat protein. This will help you avoid pre-eclampsia. I agree that if you try the water etc and still feel very weird, then pop off and get your BP taken. A little brown blood wouldn't be from anything to do with the baby most likely, but some old blood from your outer cervix. It does mean that you're gearing up to labour beautifully though even if not for another month *hugs*

I'm also feeling the heat-although today we have a lovely breeze following that awesome storm early this morning. Yesterday was terrible. By late arvo my ankles were a bit swollen and I felt exhausted. Last night, whilst on bubhub I was quite dizzy and the words blurred and moved so I went straight to bed. I had pre-eclampsia with DS 7 years ago and although no problems whatsoever with DD 5 years ago, I NEVER want to go through that again, so I'm trying to be extra vigilant with resting etc.. Bit of a laugh with school and kinder trips! Good thing I'm obsessed with dry felting at the moment-it forces me to sit and rest.

Hi Twinkle,
I took 2 month early maternity leave last year, because I just couldnt stand the heat. Period.
Being pregnant you can get easily dehydrated. So make sure drink plenty of water/fluid. Just make sure of that. Stay away from the word dehydrated!
Drink plenty! :D
i have been feeling the same with the heat here in adelaide the last couple of days...
I feel like I can barely drag mysellf out of bed!
If you are too worried then call your gp or midwife and have it checked out!
I hope you feel better soon!
