View Full Version : Long night sleep at 12 weeks
Hi There, My bub is just on 12 weeks and for the past two weeks has been sleeping at night for approx 10-11 hours. She has a last feed (breast) at 6pm, a bath and to bed and doesn't have another feed until around 5am? Is this OK for this age? Should I be waking her for another feed during the night?

Hi Justcooked,
if your little bub was hungry I am sure she would wake herself up. My dd was sleeping for a similar duration at that age, but sleeping patterns change all the time. As long as she is happy and healthy don't worry too much. :p

Its ok, my kids were fully breastfed till they were 11 months old and both boys slept through the night from 3 weeks old. Bailey at 6 months old wasn't putting on much weight and they wanted me to wake him in middle of night for feed. I said no way cause i didn't want him to start waking up during the night again so i squeezed an extra feed in through the day, he never whinged or anything. I think it was just the fact he was an extremely active kid.

My baby is also 12 weeks & she sleeps sometimes up to 13 hours in a night. I was worried that this was too much at once and she only has maybe 2 really short naps during the day.
I guess it is true that if she was hungry she would wake and she is a happy baby when she is awake.
My only problem with this is that she doesnt go to sleep until about midnight & wakes up at lunch time. Does any one have any ideas how to change the pattern so that she goes to sleep earlier to wake up in the morning instead of afternoon?
Oh my......... I envy you........my ds doesn't sleep for more than 10 mins at a time during the day, then feeds at 10pm then 2am then 5.30am........I am exhausted and have read and tryed every method in all the books and dvd available, I'm so tired and exhausted that I have talked my dh ( who does the night feeds and gives me a break on the weekends in every way he can ) to pay for a private consultant to visit our house ( I have found one but she is on holidays :( :( till the end on the month .... 2 more weeks of this and I am going to go crazy )
May I ask how many times does he feed a day and how much , are you bf or is it formula ?
If my ds slept thought the night I think it would make it easier for me to cope with him not sleeping in the day....... I can understand how woman get PND as with no sleep you mind starts to go coocoo.......

I want to know how you do this too - I am so envious! But I can understand that it worries you that it might be a bit too long. How much does bub weigh?

Well done :) and yes you will be the envy of a lot of mothers. My little one was the same and like you I worried about whether I should wake him up for a feed etc... I decided to keep an eye on his weight gain... do it weekly for a few weeks at the chemist... if bub is not putting on weight or is losing weight then add in the extra feed... if still putting on weight at a good weight then enjoy your rest :)
