View Full Version : Nappy Covers
Hi Bubhubbers -
Just wondering if anyone had any words of wisdom about nappy covers. I'm planning on using flat cloth nappies and have heard mixed reports about Bummis and Mothercare Airflow covers.
Anyone know these covers or have any other covers they'd recommend to throw into the mix?
Thanks everyone -

Hi Charla,
the Motherease PUL covers (Air Flow, in particular) are great, if you want assurance of waterproofness. THis is at the expense of breathability though. I love my wool cvoers, in particular the Sckoon (http://www.nurturenappies.com.au) wool cover, which is machine washable. Wool is the most breathable cover, adjusting to the body temperature so that it is cool in summer, and warm in winter. They are brilliantly low maintenance, and great for overnight.
My Tots Bots PUL and fleece covers have also been great, but I can particularly recomend the wool covewr, and ME Air Flow. The wool cvoers are a bit more expensive, but a good investment. You get lots of wear from them as they don't need to be washed after every use, just aired.
They'll hold your folded squares into place well,
CHeers! :)

i used fluffies pull on nappy covers and found they were pretty good. I also used ones with velcro on the front that were made of fleecy material with good results. they retail for about 6 dollars each in kmart and big w. my toddler still wears fluffies and my newborn uses the velcro ones when shes in cloth naps.
The best cover I've used/seen over flat terries would be the Motherease Airflow. It has a generous 'rise' which fully covers the bulkiness of the folded flats. Some of the other PUL covers I find to be made to fit over the trimmer fitted nappies so may lead to leaks and wicking if used on a folded flat.
I love wool covers too and have machine washed (frontloader) all of mine (various brands both locally made and imported). They are the most breathable but remember that PUL is breathable too.
I have never used the Fluffies from K-mart but just from the looks of them, they don't come anywhere near the quality of the Motherease/Bummis/Tots Bots etc. The pvc ones are NOT breathable and are a false economy because they need to be replaced so often.
