Hi there,

So things have been going well with these two bubbas-made it past xmas, and will be 38weeks on Monday. Had a visit with the midwife and visiting OB today and he ran me through what is most likely going to happen with this labour... ( with DS I was able to wander back and forth from the shower and eventually gave birth on the bed because thats where i felt comfy)
... he said i'd definately be in stirrups and have two drips hooked up, and that i'd have to be 'co-operative' as the second twin may be delivered breech. (at the moment bub one is head down and bub two has his head up near her bum)
I kinda respect the fact that he has given me warning ,mentioned they'd have blood on standby, and that they'd work as fast as possible to get the second baby out etc....but I was previously in the frame of mind that what ever has to happen will happen... but now I have visuals that keep running through my head and they're all worst case scenario!!

To be honest I didn't think they did breech deliveries anymore- maybe with the first one out i'll be stretched enough?? but he mentioned the drip because sometimes the uterus relaxes and stops contracting. he also said sometimes the cervix can close up!! Oh Geez im hopeless now I know all these "maybe's".

I think I might start talking to the little boy especially , you know kinda mind over matter... asking him to nicely turn around and follow his sister out head first!!

has anyone else delivered vag with their bubs in a similar position???

Hi

my twins were born at 35 weeks and twin one was prosterier (spine on my spine) and Twin 2 was breech. I had an epidural early on and when they discovered matt (T1) was pros they put it up to a ful spinal block.
I always knew there was a chnace of a ceasar having them in the position they were, though it wasn;t neccesary. They were born 2 minutes apart and are now 8 months and doing well.:hugs:

hope that has helped and all goes well

cheers

I had to have an epidural with my twins incase something went wrong and needed emergency c/s.
just wait and see after twin one is born, the other may turn once there is more room, i know with me twin 2 moved a bit, and the dr stuck his hand up and straightened him a bit.. sounds lovely hey! but I never felt a thing.

My mum had my sister (twin 1) normally and then me (twin 2) i was undiagnosed, they thought i might be the 'afterbirth', and the doc pulled me out feet first, even though i was in the head down position. SO yeah, i was born quite hastily and breech.

I am sure you'll be fine. :)

Hey Nicole - a bunch of the maybes happened to me with the second one - who turned transverse during labour (rather scary) and required a lot of assistance. My cervix also started closing and they had to work very quickly - it still took 26 mins to get her out (which is a very long time between monochorionics) BUT she was absolutly FINE and so was I. Sounds like your ob is just doing what he should - making sure that you go into the birth prepared for a more complicated birth. That way you can plan and prepare for everything. And the odds are still on your side for having a straight forward safe and easy birth.

Thanks girls, its good to hear real stories, i know there are alot of maybes for everything.
I jumped on line and found a whole heap of positive twin birth stories including breech and transverse. I guess we'll just have to go back to thinking; ''go with the flow, go with the flow!!"
Am now 38w +3d , feel like every cavity is filled- including the tops of my legs-if that is possible!!
