Has anyone used one of the Innotek Dog Containment systems?

We have a pen for our pups, although they spend all day inside and playing with us outside, we like to keep them in the pens (which are quite large) during the times we are not home to make sure they are still in the yard when we get home.

My girl is a jumper, and jumps the fence all the time if given the opportuinty. She goes a bit stupid when she sees the dogs at the back fence in their yard and TBH I do not think fence extenders or anything like that will keep her away from them.

they are both American Staffordshire Terriers, and are show dogs and I really need to keep them on the grass and not the concrete and dry dirt, and more the fact that they will be inside ALOT less when the bubbas arrive. So we need to find a way to keep her in. The boy will follow her too if she jumps. They are both not desexed, because they are show dogs, and need their bits to be shown.

Anyone got any ideas?

hello

are they those crate things???? like a big cage? do you have a biggish yard? you could maybe make a dog run in your yard with 6foot fencing?

are your dogs obedient?

i was told by a dog trainer that fence jumping is to do with the dogs not knowing their place in the pack. if they know you're the leader ect, they shouldnt jump the fence, there is no need to, etc.

good luck with everything, you wouldnt want anyone finding and rehoming these beauties!!! :)

I thought maybe you were talking about the electric collars? I have experience with those so let me know if it is and I'll tell you about it :)

As i said, it is a pen. They also have their crates for shows, which are small lil cages, but we would never ever leave them in them for more than an hour without us being near them and able to take them out to the toilet.

Our yard is pretty big, but like I said even the fence extenders, which would make the fences about 6 foot high, they wouldnt stop her.

Because they are show dogs, the girl (who is the one im worried about) is co-owned, which means someone finding and rehoming them isnt even an option. Id do anything in my power to keep these dogs in our yard, and i suppose thats why im asking if anyone has had any help with these INNOTEK systems. Which are the systems where you lay a wire under the fence and about 6 foot from the fence the dog hears a beep from the collar that it is wearing, and if it gets much closer it'll recieve a correction (which is an electric pulse) and it becomes stronger the closer the dog gets to the fence.

If anyone has owned Staffies before, they will know that most of the time these dogs are just so free willed that they dont really care about what they do. My girl does things without even thinking. She knows were higher in the pack, but she honeslty just doesnt think, and is a big boof.

The electric fencing that we have we havent used yet, we could line the fence perimeter with it, but I think this containment system may be a lil less harsh. I love my kids so much I just dont want to hurt them, but they have to know somehow?

Thanks for your replies girls.

I know its not what you are asking but you did mention electric fencing... We live on a farm and had trouble with our German Shepherd taking himself for walks - Jumping the 6 ft fence in his run (especially bad out here as farmers tend to shoot wandering dogs... and our neighbours hate our Shepherd as he took a liking to their sheep IYKWIM - so it was absolutley essential that we kept him contained). Problem was solved by putting electric fencing around their dog run - its doesn't hurt them, they get a zap and get a big shot of adrenalin and bark like mad but after doing that 2 or 3 times they soon learn not to try and jump. We have since disconnected the electricity but still have the connectors (that they can see) on the fence so the dogs think its still live. No probs in 2 years.
