Hi there.
I am moving to ACT with my family in Feb06 and need some advice please.
Is there long child care waiting lists in ACT ie months/years?
Thinking of moving to areas like Ngunnawal, Amaroo, Fadden, Gungahlin, Issacs. Are these good suburbs - renting then will buy once house in Melb sold?
We will be moving to work in the Public Service Sector if that's any help.
Any sort of advice would be greatly appreciated. :) :)

Hi- I am from the ACT and work in childcare(when i'm not on mat leave:))
The waiting lists vary greatly on whether it is full or parttime placement, and age of child.
All good suburbs- Fadden is quite expensive to rent in but very nice area- Day care there is Blinky Bills and is quite a good centre.
Centre in Issacs is- Jellybeans and is an exceptionally good centre!!! Waiting list is fairly good though- Director is Jill, give her a call!!!
I can't comment on Gungalin, Amaroo on ngunnawal as i am a southside (gordon) girl! but i'll give some of my C/C friends a call and see if i can suss out some good centres on that side!
Best of luck,,,

Thank-you so much Shannon.
All your help is greatly appreciated :D :D
I try to call your suggested person asap.
Better put my head down and bum up and organise everything now. :)
Hi dmaree,
Ngunnawal, Amaroo and gungahlin are all newer suburbs on the northside there is a lot of new infrastructure such as schools, parks and new arterial roads being built there. For a long while there wasn't much in the way of shops etc but it is coming along in leaps and bounds and the shopping is now pretty good. As I am a new mum I haven't really looked much into childcare yet so can't help you on that side. I have a lot of friends who live in the gungahlin area and love it. I live in Kaleen which is about 10 minutes from Gungahlin as Canberra is not that big you are never really more than half an hour from anywhere. Hope this helps.
