Hi Leighsa,
I started Isabella at 4.5mths, she wanted what everyone else was eating too, plus she likes the spoon to chew on(she has 2 teeth)

hi jlk...
It sounds as though the little ones grow really fast...Mia isn't on solids yet (shes three months old today) :) but it shouldn't be too long now...how is the teething going?...as hard as it is rumoured to be? or is it not too bad? It all seems to happen so fast the way they grow up...but I agree when everyone says this is the best age...now they are giggling and smiling it melts your heart :) it's great to see there are quite a few mums with lil bubs born around the same time as it's great to get tips and advice (none of my friends have gone down the parenthood path yet so i'm kindof like a maverick) and that leaves me a little clueless with not alot of moral support in that been there done that kind of way :)
Isabella is such a beautiful name...and leighsa...Elliot is unusual for a girl...I havent heard it before its a really pretty name...

hey mia's mum
teething not too bad so far, (if thats what it is, im not too sure as she is my first). she chews on anything she can get her hands on, and dribbles all day long, and we have had a few dawn wake ups and very hard too get to sleep the last 2 wks, when she is normally easy to get to sleep and sleeps through the night. hopefully the teeth will come soon! :D
i love elliot as a girls name i heard it somewhere when i was preg and couldnt get it out of my head. then it became one of the only girls names hubby and i could agree on. its a good strong name but feminine and we shorten to elle and elli.
i love mia though very pretty name!

Hi everyone
Didn't even know Isabella was teething, they just appeared. Hope the rest are that easy. My older three didn't have much trouble either, but they were 9mths before they got them.

hey guys....
well it seems the teething doesn't sound as scary as some peeps have told me... *touch wood* it sounds as though both of you have had a fairly good start so far... I hope it continues that way (for me too - that would be nice) :)
have you guys been to this site a long time? I only recently found out about it and it is great....lots of info to search I think you could spend hours just surfing all the different sections.... anyway...would either of you have any ideas for fun interactive play ideas for me and little bub....at the moment she doesn't pick anything up and i'm clueless as to how to spend the time playing with her when she is having 'uptime' at the moment she has discovered televison which i was really pleased about for awhile there but now she seems too attached and i have a hard time getting her attention back ... she tends to cry when i try to do anything else with her yet is riveted when she is put back in front of the telly....its scary i tell you...all this ...from a 3 month old :D
anyway some tips would be great here if you guys have any handy hints ...
talk soon~ :)

Hi Mia's mum
Have you tried one of those baby activity gyms (i think thats what they are called) that sits over them when they lay on the floor.
I wouldn't be too worried about the telly I think it's just the colours and movement that they love.
See Ya

hi there
i wouldnt worry bout tv either, at her age they are fasinated by the light, colour and movement. when my little girl was her age she did the same thing- couldnt keep her eyes off the tv!!
i used a rocker seat thing with a toy bar, a mobile in her cot, and a floor toy gym. when she could hold her head up and was strong enough(i think it was bout 3mths) i put her in a jolly jumper. they are great, she loves it. keeps her amused for ages and ages. :D
good luck
~mias mum~
26-01-2005, 00:23
thanks for the tips guys.... :)
The play gyms are a good idea...she has one but she needs to be able to grab the toys to get any entertainment out of it and she doesn't grab or hold anything yet...but i'll give it another go....I'm glad that the t.v seems to be a relatively harmless thing i feel a bit better about that now ...the jolly jumper sounds like a good idea...is that the bouncy harness where they look like they are in a standing position?...
thanks again for these ideas i'll give them a go ~ :)

Hi guys
those jolly jumpers are great, gives them a whole new veiw of things
Hi Guys,.
My gorgeous girl Scarlett was born on August 17th,.. She is just a divine little pudding! No teeth for her though! She is sort of sitting up,..but still has not discovered her feet! - when do they start doing stuff with their toes? She was sleeping through (10 to 11 hours a night) until about 4 days ago, when she started wanting a 3am feed again! I had forgotten how hard it was to get up in the middle of the night! It's killing me!

My little one was born 19 August. She found her toes about a week ago. And weirdly has also just started waking for a feed at about 2.30am after sleeping through for a couple of weeks.
And some advice with the jolly jumper - they need to have excellent head and trunk control before you stick them in it. But after that they are fantastic - I sued to put a play mant with differnet textures (scrunchy sounds etc) under my son's feet so he got some feedbackwhen he bounced.

Hi there,
I am a 28 yr old mother of 2 boys (AHHHHHHHHH) my youngest (Tyler) being born on the 7th August last year.. I am a SAHM and plan to be for a few more months until I go back to uni late this year.
At the moment I have hit that bored stage and need to meet other mums and other people in general.
Tyler is now at a great age although in saying that I have enjoyed all of this sooo much more this time around. He is rolling over although only rolls back over onto his back when he has to. He can sit up unaided but only for 20 seconds or so. He is eating solids ow as well as still being breastfed, he has banana and pears at 11am then fruit at 3pm and vegies at 7pm. I miss the fully breastfed nappies. He loves playing "boo" with Jaycob (his big brother who is 8) and he is such a happy baby!!!

Its great to see a few more faces popping up in this section....it seems there are quite a few bubs born around this time so we are all more or less at the same developmental stages with our little ones...
jacobntyler i noticed you mentioned your a uni student?...what do you study?...i'm at uni too and have plans to return later this year also....i was just wondering how you found combining studying with parenthood...when i got pregnant i thought it would be a piece of cake to return to uni...however actual parenthood has rendered me somewhat intimidated with the thought :D i'm just curious to see how someone else finds the experience of studying + parenthood

Hi there,
I was at uni doing a combined degree bach teaching/ bach arts but I have dropped the teaching component and I am going to do a straight arts degree and then do post grad law (eventually).
I found that it wasn't too hard at uni when Jaycob was little but as he got to school age it became harder to do. I stopped and started work again but now that Tyler is here I am going to start to finish it all again.

hey there....
It's comforting to see that combining study with little ones can be done...it's nice to get your perspective since you have been through it...goodluck with your future studies it sounds like quite a workload you have ahead...but it sounds like it will be quite fun too :)

hi everyone
well the kids have gone back to school and all is quiet :D
Isabella has gone back to having daytime sleeps now that the kids aren't home so she's not so cranky.
how is everyone? just thought i'd say hello

hey there,
glad to hear things are settling down on the home front for you JLK...it must be nice to have a quieter house to focus all your energies on the little bub :) I can imagine that it must be really hard when you have to divide your time amongst the other children as well....
I'm finding things are pretty good too...little mia is spending more (happier moods) when she is awake...although her sleeping has regressed....she used to sleep through about 5-6 hours before waking but is now waking every 3 hours all through the night.....does anyone else know if this is normal?...i thought it was a freak few days at first but now it seems ongoing?!? ....has anyone else found a similar thing happens around this age (15 weeks) or is it just me? :) I'd really love to know the experiences of others regarding sleep patterns of their little bubs :)

Hello,
My beautiful girl Grace Madeline was born on 24/7/04. She is getting her top teeth at the moment and it seems to be really upsetting her. The bottom two came through without me even noticing.
She is really starting to develop the funniest little personality traits which keep my husband and I in fits of laughter for ages. Every time she sneezes she gets the giggles as she seems to think a sneeze makes people laugh. Mind you to anyone else it probably isn't that funny..
take care

my alice was born August 18 2004.
she has 2 bottom teeth, and weighs a whopping 10kg (is into "toddler" sized nappies as of today) but has only recently been able to sit up unaided and shows no signs of wanting to sit up from lying let alone crawl....(which is pretty funny given she has just outgrown the "crawler" nappies!!)
what about yours???

hi alices mum
Isabella is about 8kg, crawlingeverywhere and is pulling herselfup on everything, don't wish for it to happen cos when it does you'll never have a moments peace.
i think bub crawlled quickly cause she has older siblings aged 11, 9 and 6, she just wanted to follow them.
She's got 3 teeth, the 3rd one has been giving her hell, :( poor baby, teething is cruel isn't it
leisha, Isabella's teeth seemed like they were taking that long too

Hi Jo,
Grace is also just over 8kg and doing the whole crawl thing. She is more a commando crawl girl though. She is just starting to cruise the furniture. There have been a few falls but I think it worries me more than it worries her.
Does Isabella sleep through? Grace does but here teeth have been bothering her and the last two nights have been 3am wake ups in tears. I am sure she will get back to normal soon enough though.
Cheers

Hi paula
Isabella has been sleeping through since she was 6 weeks old but all that went out the window about a month ago and now she's been waking up about 3-4am in the morning, i think it must be her top teeth coming through
She has her bottom teeth but they never bothered her.
She's not sleeping much in the daytime either, which makes for a very tired bub!

Hi all
Just an update!
Isabella is now sleeping again (yay) and has got 4 teeth!
She stands up alot on her own now and the other night she took 2 steps
Finally she is taking a bottle although she hasn't been fully weaned yet
How are all the other mums and bubs going!!!
Hi,
Little Mia is also an August baby! I just found this thread and can't believe how different babies at this age are! Mia is still doing commando rolls everywhere and hasn't discovered the art of crawling yet - let alone taking steps!! WOW!! It seems like the babies with older brothers and sisters seem to get moving a little quicker - more inspiration to chase their sibblings I guess!
Mia sleeps quite well - dosen't sleep through though - only has once!! She's generally a good daytime sleeper but is currently in her cot having a big talk to herself rather than putting herself to sleep!! Silly little bugger! She seems to have alot to say at the moment!
Mia got her first 2 teeth this month - it was very exciting! Oh and she is about 8.5kg... I think that sums her up - one last thing - she's FANTASTIC! Love her to pieces! :p

22-04-2005, 15:36
Hi Jessica
They are all different aren't they!
Isabella just loves her big brother and sisters and constantly chases after them!
She is also full of talk at the moment (if you can call it that)
alicesmum
22-04-2005, 16:43
It is really amazing how different they all are!! Alice turned 8 months last week and weighs over 10 kg, is wearing size toddler nappies, size 1 and 2 clothes (a few 0's still fit, though hardly). She doesn't roll or crawl or move around at all (!!!), but rather just sits amongst her toys with a very straight back (never falls), talking and squealing ("bring me what I need, slaves!!!") and flapping her arms like she's trying to fly (but bugger crawling!).
it's so cute :p

hey everyone
my little elli crawls like crazy, climbs on everything, pulls to stand on any piece of furniture or person, basically gets into lots of trouble!! two days ago turned around to find her sitting up on the coffee table  and i still have no idea hope she managed to get up there.
but she still has nothing in the way of teeth, i t seems like ive been thinking they be comming forever.
does anyone still breast feed? just wondering when u weened or plan to ween?? i still do but started one bottle of formula a day just this week but not really sure about it. anyway take care of all those bubs

Hi Everyone,
Grace is now pulling herself up on everything all the time. It is now no fun to just crawl. Her favourite thing is to pull herself up on my legs when I am standing up and talking to someone. I too am STILL waiting on the next tooth, she was waking up through the night and only settling once the Bonjela had kicked in, but alas no teeth have come through.
I am still breastfeeding but I must say I am ready to move on to cows milk(am I a bad mum for wanting to stop?). Grace will not have formula at all so I thought the obvious thing would be to put her straight on regular milk. Are they supposed to be getting about 600ml per day at around 9 months??
Anyway it is funny how babies at such close ages can be at such different stages. Mind you in about 6 months they will probably all be running riot.
Take care
Paula
Hi Paula,
I'm also still breastfeeding and want to start Mia on cow's milk for her daytime feeds - for two reasons - one I have to go back to work in 2 months and also so I can have a break!!! (no were not bad mums!!).. I'll still give her morning and nightime breastfeeds probably till she's one I think? Unless she starts biting me!!!
I've heard different things about giving cow's milk from different CHN's... Are you going to give her Pentavite? I think it's some sort of supplement to help break down the protein in the milk? PLEASE let me know how you go!! I've tried her on formula and she hates the taste! Will you use a cup/spout/straw or a bottle? Grace is about a month older than Mia, I think I'll wait till she's 9 months too? Keep me filled in!!
By the way I'm very impressed by the pulling up and crawling efforts of everyone's little buggers!! How cute!! Mia is still rolling everywhere but is getting frustrated when she ends up in the opposite direction to where she was headed!! Hopefully soon she'll figure out crawling would be much easier!!

Hi all
I too am still breastfeeding (but not for long) as soon as i can get her to take a bottle that is!
She's just started to bite which was alright when she only had 2 teeth, but now she has 4 it hurts!
Glad to see everyone is well!!!
talk soon!
Hi all,
My darling Gemma Kate was born 4/8/04 so I figured I could join in.
She is almost 9 months, still only has her 2 bottom teeth and I am wondering if her others will ever come through (her brother has all 8 at 9 months)!!!!
She is well and truely crawling and pulling herself up on all the furniture - has taken a couple of steps but at this stage is pretty keen to hang on.
No sure what she weighs as I have not had her weighed since 6 months ( yes I am a slacko - 2nd child and all that!).
She is saying mum mum and dad dad and a whole heap of gibberish that could mean anything.
Thanks for letting me join in August 2004 :o

Alice's third tooth popped out today, but it wasn't one of her front ones, rather the one to the right of the front one (i think it's called the lateral incisor, the front ones are central incisors ...sorry my dad's a dental tech!).
i forgave her instantly for all her foul stropiness over the last few days. Gosh! I can't wait for the other 29 to come through!!!!
She's still not crawling at all. Just sits in the place where you put her. Can walk away and 30 mins later she's still there.
I'm not complaining!! :D

Walking already my goodness!!!! Grace is still cruising everything but doesn't look close to even standing without support. Not complaining though as she is into everything as it is.. As we speak she has decided the vacuum cleaning would be great to wrestle with.....Talk about little monkeys!!!!
Still waiting on the next teeth though, bottom two are here, and I can see one tooth through the skin up the top but how long do these things take to come through!!
waiting patiently..
Paula
Hi Paula,
Just wondering how you went with the cows milk? Mia turns 9 months this weekend and I plan to try cows milk next week!
We got our third tooth last week, top middle, and I think the one next to it isn't far behind!! Her sleeps are all over the place as a result!!
Still not crawling but rocking back and forth on her hands and knees!! I would say she'll be crawling very soon - she seems happy rolling from room to room at the moment!! Still dosen't want to stand - starting to get concerned so will see CHN next week...
Hope everyone is well, :D

Hi Jessica,
Well Grace is now down to having a morning and evening breastfeed, she seems to be self weaning. Through the day she has water, juice and I must say not very much milk at all. MyCHN was telling me on Wednesday that she doesn't think it such a big deal if they don't get 600ml per day. As long as she is eating yoghurt, cheese and a bit of milk then that is fine. Along with all the solids they should be getting all the essential vitamins.
Anyway that made me feel a bit better about it all. Grace has still yet to get another tooth!!! I can see a little white spot in the gum but that has been there for so long!!!!
Some days I think she must be teething but surely that means a tooth pops up at some stage...
I wouldn't worry about Mia not crawling, Grace only does the commando thing. I know a friend's little girl who went from sitting/rolling to standing to walking in about two months.
Let me know how the milk goes.

hey everyone
my little elliot 30/7/04 is finally getting her first tooth. :D just surfaced yesterday a tiny bit. im so excited its taken sooo long. but now the poor little munchkin is in pain :o
she is on 1 breast feed in the morning and 3 bottle feeds, plus 3 solids meals a day (i think sees a bit of a piglet).
she is cruising around the furniture and walks behind a walker. has taken a few steps on her own but freaks out when she realises we're not holding her and sits quickily. i give it about a mth and shell go solo.
take care
leighsa
Hi Paula and all,
Mia also seems to be self weaning! She is having morning and bedtime breastfeeds and SOMETIMES a lunch feed! I decided against cows milk because I worried if she totally weans then she would have to have cows milk 3 times a day and I wasn't sure this was ok? So today I've started trying to give her formula - well she had about 5 mouthfulls!! But then decided to have a good breastfeed for lunch!! WELL.... it's getting tricky because I go back to work in 1.5months so I need her to start on formula!! I figure if she dosen't want it and still has her water and juice plus her morning and evening breastfeeds she should be OK? How much water and juice does Grace drink? I get so worried about dehydration because we had a severe constipation issue a while ago!
Anyway.... no crawling yet! sleeps starting to get back to normal. I decided to stop her 3am feeds. We had a 20min 'crying it out' episode at 3am 2 days ago and since then she has slept through... so far so good!
Oh one more question! Mia eats heaps of yoghurt but I haven't tried cheese yet? What sort of cheese do you give her and how?
Hope everyone is well!! :D
2girls&1boy
02-06-2005, 20:04
Hi Jessica and Everyone,
Grace also does not take formula. She is only having the morning and evening feed now though. I have decided that she is just not ready for milk yet! I gave her a taste of it the other day and she just looked at me as if to say "you can't trick me into drinking this mum".
She does have about 300ml water a day though!! She loves the stuff thank goodness. She has cheesesticks, grated cheese and even cheese slices throughout the day. I am pretty sure there is no fear of her not getting enough calcium.
I am STILL waiting for these next teeth. I can see this little white stump in her top gum but it just hasn't come through yet. I am wondering if she will be the only adult female with just her two bottom teeth. Of course I will think it is cute, but will everyone else??
She is getting so showy with her crawling, she pulls herself up on everthing and just holds on with her fingertips. This morning she was so caught up in the wiggles that she forgot she wasn't holding on to anything!! All of a sudden she collapsed in a heap and laughed at herself. Very very cute I must say..
Anyway hope all those July/August 04 babies are going well, can you believe they are nearly 1???

02-06-2005, 20:19
Hi Paula, Jessica and everyone
Alice is stil having 3-4 breastfeeds a day and 1-2 bottles (I am slowly trying to get her down to only 2 feeds a day. Difficult as she is such a big fan of the boob!)
She is still eating like a Trojan (so is huge, wearing all size 1 clothes now) and is very grumpy lately as I think her top teeth are also giving her grief.
She shows no signs of crawling, which is good as we still don't have to worry about chasing after her or baby-proofing the house. However, she has just started this shimmying/bum-sliding thing in the last few days, where she flaps her arms and rocks her body until she is propelled forward, which is very funny, but not particularly efficient!! To go backwards she leans forward and pushes herself backwards on her bum!! (Neither DH nor myself crawled so we didn't expect Alice to either I guess.)
I thik I might post a thread in another section and see if there are other babies out there who did things other than crawling, just to assure myself that my baby is not a freak!!! :p
hope everyone is well!
Rachel
Hi All,
Well Gemma took her first unaided step today, just 1 day before 10mths of age. She is eating and growing like a trooper - 75cm, and only a few 0 clothes still fit..... Though these teeth seem to be taking forever. 2 bottom and only 1 top one... I am wondering if she is ever going to stop teething and show me all her pearly whites !!!!. Hope all other August babies are going great....
They are growing up so fast.

Hi All,
I hope everyone and bubs are doing well. Coming up to 1st birthday time already!! Can you believe it? Grace is starting to stand for a few seconds by herself, realises she is by herself and lowers herself to the ground. V cute I have to say.
This top tooth is STILL coming though, I can see it but it must move up and down or something like that as some days it really looks close and then others it is just a little white lump.
Anway have a great day

Hi everyone,
my little blossom Emily was born on 17.9.04 so I hope you can forgive my little indiscretion. Em only has one tooth on the bottom and one coming through from the top. She has just started crawling 2 weeks ago but is more interested in standing and checking out the world. Shes a real treasure though after two boys im glad i got a girl :D
I'm glad I stumbled onto this site its cheered me up.

At last tooth number three has arrived!!!!! It looks as though 4 will be following closely behind.
Hi to Emily's moocow(I kind of feel bad calling you a cow!!!) Grace is born 24/7/04 so she is technically not in the Aug04 club either.
It is Grace's birthday in 1 month today and we are going cold turkey off the breast from then. I have spoken to a lot of people and am told that it shouldn't?? be too difficult to do. We will see anyway..
Take care

Hi Leighsa,
Wow Elliot is doing really well with the walking how exciting!! Have you taken plenty of photos?? Grace stood for about 15 seconds last night and realised noone was holding on to her so lowered herself down and continued to crawl again.
We are having a 1st birthday in the park for Grace, Pooh Bear theme. It is just a little morning tea thing and probably more for the adults but there will be quite a few babies there. We got her a little ride on scooter think called a WheelyBug. It is for ages 1-3 and is wooden with little caster wheels on it. It is made to look like a little Lady Bug and is very cute. We also got her some little wooden puzzles and blocks.
Good luck with the b'day plans..

hi all mums of July-Sept 04 bubs!!!
well, alice is 10 mths and 1 week today. still not crawling or gettign around much. my post in another thread did nothing to make me feel much better as a couple of people implied that I should be doing something about her lack of crawling. but i'm quite sure she's not impaired in any way!!!
SHe has 6 teeth now and enjoys biting down on things with them (especially fingers and my nipple  ) so like Paula, I think breastfeeding is going to end at the 12 month mark! she is already down to only 1-2 feeds per day and 2-3 bottles.
having a small party at our place for her birthday with family and friends. not sure what we'll get her yet but grandma is gettign her a fisher price walker. that should help with some of her frustration at not being able to get around yet and maybe give her some more confidence to do so! has anyone heard anything about the modern style walkers at all?? I know the old ones used ot be dangerous but they can't sell anything these days in toy shops that don't meet australian safety standards so i assume they're fine.
glad to hear everyone's bubs are well!! :)
Hi Alicesmum!!!!
What a relief to find a mum of another NON-CRAWLER!! My bubs is also 10mths and a week old and only semi crawls in reverse... not only this but she dosen't pull herself up on things and certainly isn't taking steps!! I was/am worried about this and might/am going to see doctor next week!! Yes I'm a freaked out first time mum who worries that her bub isn't keeping up with the Jones's!!! :o
I just read a post in the "things other than crawling" thread and found a mum who said her bub didn't crawl till she was 12months old or walk till 15mths!! Made me feel a little better! :D

Charli is 10 1/2 months and gets about by dragging herself along with one elbow and pushing with the opposite toe. Also, she still has no teeth.
They will all get there eventually. There aren't many gummy, crawling 3 year olds around!!

hi jessica
i found this forum on a uk baby website and it made me feel so much better!
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/tips/6501.html
have decided that, as one mum put it, Alice is a "studier" and not a "doer". (not surprising given both her parents are great big nerds!!)

Hi Jessica
My oldes child didn't crawl until 12mths old and walked at 17mths, so i wouldn't be too worried (he's 11 now and his school footy team(AFL) have just won the Paul Kelly Cup, so their the NSW state champs) sorry, i'm just a bit proud! LOL
My other three were all different too, and crawlled at different stages as well!

Hi Jessica and Rachel,
Thought you might be interested to hear this: I was reading a parenting mag yesterday and it was discussing First year milestones - well it said the following about crawling:
"Some babies never crawl. They either stick to bottom shuffling until it's their time to walk, or skip that stage even and move straight to early walking."
Cheers
Paula
Thanks Rachel - Reading through that forum has helped me breathe a little easier!! Like some others there she shows no interest in bearing weight or standing just rolls, pulls and squirms to where she needs to go - she made a few little crawling like moves today which was very exciting!! Why do we feel so much pressure for our kids to all be the same!! I love my little 'pyscho kitten' and I'm sure she will get about when she is good and ready!! thanks again!!! :D

Hi Jessica
OMG! I just looked on your profile page to see where in Brisvegas you are and we have the same postcode!!! Have we met at a mum's group??? (Sorry I'm so vague about such things!!).
Where are you? We're in nundah. Also, I am a primary school teacher too! And Alice is only 3 days older than Mia. How bizarre! You should PM me if you would like to catch up for coffee one time!!
rachel
Mia started crawling yesterday!!!!! :D
Yes we're very excited - it's a pretty clumsy crawl but she's on the move - yesterday we had visitors and her little 1year old friend (who crawled at 5months and walked at 10months!!!!obviosly inspired/embarrased Mia into motion!
Tonight she was almost chasing me giggling hysterically at her new found movement!! WOW!
Rachel, we just moved away from Nundah about 3 weeks ago!!! We have moved to Carina because I start work this term! I teach Year 1 and am co-teaching for the rest of the year so I'm doing a 5 day fortnight... mixed feelings - mostly negative! Wish we could afford for me to be a SAHM forever!! Sorry we never got to meet earlier! Did you join a mothers group through the Nundah Clinic? If your looking for one I still go to my Nundah group with a great bunch of girls!! Let me know if your interested!!
Dinners ready - got to go!!

Hi Everyone,
Grace turned 1 last Sunday!! :D She had the best day, lots of pressies and loads of other kids to play with.
I was a little emotional the night before to think by baby girl is 1 already... I now know what my mum used to go on about when she said your kids grow up too fast.... :( Oh well I guess they have to don't they, and if the next year is as good as the first then we are going to have a ball :)
Hope everyone is good..
