Arggg Nappy Jargon!

Hey everyone, Im new here!

I have my first bub due in a couple of weeks and he/she will be a clothy! I need some advice though. What on earth is dry pailing???

Can i put Lavander oil in with the Nappys? Whats the best natural way to reduce smelling/ staining...i really want to try and stay away from heavy duty bleaches etc. I have 2 snappies....will this be enough?

r u talking bout using terry flats? 2 snappis will be unuff..dry pailing is putting the nappies in a dry bucket no soaking then just wash them as normal...The sun sanitises them and gets alot of stains out

Dry pailing is basically tossing nappies in a nappy bucket with no soaking solution... just a dry bucket....

I put a sprinkling of bicarb and lavender oil at the bottom of the bucket to help with odours, but I wouldn't wash with oils as they could effect PUL and absorbancy...

No need to soak, hanging them in the sun will help with any stains and sanitising.... and you only need to use half as much detergent as you normally would...

I started with 3 snappis and am down to 1 at the mo... goodness knows where the others are.... but I use MCN more often than not, so 1 does me just fine....

Thanks everyone! Im off to get my nappy bucket now! I have terry flats...like 60 of them! I got a bit panicked a few weeks ago and went crazy buying them! I guess too many is better than not enough!!!!:D

Flats will be handy. Esp with all the changes in the early weeks!
I have 2 snappis but always lose them! I am getting some more soon. eBay last week had a few up.

I have my 3rd baby now & am still coming to terms with all the abbrevs. I think things have changed a lot with clothies since my first bub. Still its fun working it all out. I like these newer pocket nappies altho have only tried pea pods so far...

Flats will stand you in good stead as a basic stash. Do you have some decent covers?

I'd definitely get more than two snappis :) One on the baby, one on the change table, one in the nappy bag, and four somewhere mysterious was about typical in my house.
