Hi, this is a long story but bascially DD2 (now 3) has been on soy formula and now soy milk since she was only a few months old. At first it was because she had bad reflux and it went away when we changed to soy formula.
Then later on we discovered she couldn't eat ice cream or yogurt (unless it was soy) without getting a rash all over her face. But she would never eat much anyway unless it was soy.
Today, we gave her a tiny bit of normal ice cream without her knowing as we ran out of soy ice cream. But she knew straight away it wasn't her ice cream and said it hurt her tummy. She had only had maybe 2 tiny tastes at the most and her tummy was sore straight away. Poor thing, I wont be doing that again. I feel really mean.
She can eat things like cakes, biscuits and pikelets etc even if they are made with milk. Our doctor isn't concerned about what the actual problem is as she is happy on the soy. He just said that it must be some sort of milk allergy. But after today's reaction I have been wondering.
Are the reactions usually so quick? The rash used to take maybe an hour to start coming out and by the next day would be quite sore but would always go away within a few days with some cream on it to sooth it.
Would you get her tested to find out the actual problem?
