I know this should prob be in the activities with babies section, but I'm not sure if people read that far down, so here i am!
I'm getting really stuck for things to do while my 9 month old is awake. She doesn't crawl yet and will play with toys for awhile but then gets bored. We sing and dance and read stories but there's a limit to how many times you can read the same one in a row. I basically feel like I'm always going out as soon as I get a bit bored (ie ALOT) but I feel like that's avoiding the problem and I worry that that means that I'm not interacting with her enough. Please give me some ideas someone! I'd like to do things with her, but i'm not sure what.

I recently gave my 9 month old a tissue box full of playing cards and some small toys. He loves it! Keeps him entertained while I have a shower, post on bubhub etc. Cheap and easy. Might work for you.
(thanks for that suggestion btw MarthaM)
Not sure if this is a good suggestion or a bad one but I'll suggest it anyway. My DS who's just turned One loves his Baby Einstein DVD. He has the World Animals one and he gets soooo excited when I put it on and is absolutely captivated by it for it's full duration (20 mins I think). Gives me time to have a quick shower, put a load of washing on etc.
By the way, I wouldn't feel quilty about going out all the time, if it keeps you sane and bub entertained during this stage it certainly can't hurt and as she becomes more mobile she'll probably start to entertain herself a bit more for longer periods (note I said probably).

You're very welcome Cathy! I'm glad Max enjoys the game, lol
At that age, putting things in and out of a box is a great new skill and also anything that is like playing peekaboo. We bought a great cloth book with lots of flaps and things to lift or pull which Chloe would look at and explore for a good half hour at a time at that age. It was VERY durable, there's no way she could pull the flaps off, and she still looks at it at now at 2 years old. I believe it was by Tiny Love, I could probably find it online if you're interested, but there are alot of similar books out there.

Along the same lines, I've given Spencer one of my old purses which I've filled with cards and little things. he loves to pull everything out. he also loves to pull things out of a bag.
I think they really love safe household things, that they don't get to see all the time. Anything new is interesting!
My DS loves bottles filled with rice etc, anything that makes noise!
Good luck! :)

We have spent an absolute fortune on act centres toys rattles etc only for dd to be bored with them I introduced tv to her at a younger age than yours Bear in the big blue house etc She loved it and is now addicted to about 50 dvds we have her not to mention abc.
I would also go to the park walks and was addicted to the shopping centre, apparently my dd is very alert and needs extra stimulation which is probably why she is now 21mnths and says just over 200 words and says 5-6 word sentences (I like to take credit as I'm sahm and talk to her for hours flash cards you name i've done it). Today she is still easily bored and if we stay home too often she gets really crabby!!
