When we were younger , my sister and i always received a letter on Christmas morning, on our bedside tables, from Santa Claus. It would be on the lines of ...

Dear Lyn,

I hope you have been a good girl this year and have looked after your little sister. You have worked well at school and ............ I have left you some presents under the christmas tree for you to share with your sister .......... PS. Tell your mummy that the beer was lovely and cold and the mince pies were delicious. Rudolph ate his carrot too

I am writing one for Lucas this year to continue this tradition! ( BTW.... my 'santa' was a teacher at my primary school )

Another one was that there would be a new set of PJs laying on the bed to put on for when Santa came. We would have a bath and then put on our new PJs and then go walking the streets looking at the lights.

We have others too but what are some of yours????

MERRY CHRISTMAS :tree:

I have no idea how this one started (actually I think it was my sister who started it when she was off her face at Xmas lunch one year... ) anyhoo, we all say 'Merry Xmas' to each other like that tennis player Liz Whoever said 'Extra' when she did those Extra chewing gum ads years ago - with that funny lisp. We all say it - even my mum gets in on it, and we crack up laughing and nobody seems to know why we even do it now, but Christmas day just isn't the same without it!!

DH and his sisters give each other Darryl Lea puddings every year. I think they're :barf: so they leave me out of it.

My family just all used to wake up around 5am and wake mum and dad up so we could open the presents - at home they'd be under the tree but if we were at my nana's they'd be in a pillow case at the end of our bed.

My DH's family (German/Scottish background) waits till midnight Christmas Eve to open presents - they are not under the tree until Santa comes. Usually all the kids are awake and we ask them, "can you hear Santa? Let's go look for him" around 5mins to midnight. So we all head out the back yard and look up in the sky to see if we can see him. Meanwhile someone is running around inside moving all the presents to under the tree and one of the men run around the front and yell "ho ho ho" then we all come inside and find all the presents under the tree. Then they are handed out one at a time.

Since DD is so little, this year we'll just open them on Christmas Day but next year we'll do the midnight thing.
