my mum had 4. during the last one they tied her tubes- told her they wouldnt let her take my brother home unless they did it (bear in mind my mum was in no way someone who should have her kids taken off her etc, they just wouldnt let her have another c sect)

Isn't that awful!!!
I've often wondered if they are actually allowed to do that! Hopefully times have changed!

Anyway, I was discussing this limitation with my Mum and she said she goes to church with a women who has had ..... wait for it.....NINE!!!

I quizzed my Mum incessantly to get to the bottom of the story, to make sure she had her facts strait and she was adamant. This lady has had nine C/S! Her children range from between 14 y.o and 1y.o.

Should I ever find out any more about this lady I'll make a thread. Her story will be an inspiration to all who don't wish to have the size of their family limited by the knife. (tho in all fairness I don't know that I'd have more than 4

 That's just.........criminal!

My mum was told it would be too risky to have another one after my brother was born (her 2nd) so she stopped there out of fear.

My SIL has had 5 C/S...

With her last, they had to cut away some of the scar tissue, so its like she had a mini tummy tuck, because it wasn't good tissue to sew back together...

She hasn't had her tubes done... She might have one more with my brother... She had her first 4 with her 1st husband (one has passed on) and her last with my brother...

My friend has had 6 C/S!!! But yes the doc did say that it was EXTREMELY dangerous to have more children and warned her against any more!!

They strongly recommend a maximum of 4, but if a woman keeps on getting pregnant, what can they do? My mum knows of a brethren couple and the wife recently had her 8th c section, I hope her DH decides that it would be more of a sin to let his wife die than it would be to put a condom on.

My friend's mother had 5 c-secs. Her tubes aren't tied as far as I know...

There was about 10 years between the first and second as well...

I definitely wouldn't want anymore than 4 c/sections. I think the risk of rupture would be fairly great.

i actually asked my obs the same question last week after my 2nd c/s.....he said the most he has done on 1 person is 8, but he has also told another woman she should stop at 6, but apparantly the world record - if you can call it that- is wait for it - 13!!!!!!

When I had my son in July there was a woman in the hospital having her 5th. The doctor said it just depends how your own body deals with c/s, he said she was right to have another 5, her body healed perfectly and even her milk came in on the day she delivered.

My body, on the other hand, does not heal well at all so two c/s is my limit. My bubba I had in July was my 2nd c/s and when they opened me up my uterus was adhered to my bladder and abdominal wall from scar tissue from my first c/s and it was very difficult for them to get my baby out. I was told it was too dangerous for me to have anymore pregnancies (I had internal tearing in the last stages of pg), luckily this was baby #3 for us and our last. Makes me a bit sad though to think I can't change my mind.

Another thing to keep in mind is that they now say that c/s affect your fertility and make it more difficult to get pregnant again. It took me many years to fall pg after my first c/s and then I had several miscarriages.

I know a woman who's had 6 and is currently trying for another.

Encouraging because we plan on several more too!

I have had 3 c/sec so far. My doctor has told us that should be it. He told us having another one, you start taking more risks with infections and also the skin where it was cut previously coming apart.

But I guess it would depend on each person and how their body recovers from each c/sec. Somedays I think I would like another baby, but then I start to get fighten with how the pregnancy would go and if an infection would start.

I think ultimately it depends on how each woman's body reacts and heals to a c/s.

My friend has had 4 c/s and got her tubes tied with the last. They are Catholic, but it was too risky for her to go through it again, as she nearly lost her last bub due to the fact her uterus was too thin, and bubs nearly tore through :(.

If we have another (still working on DH :D), it will be my 3rd, and i will be asking to have my tubes tied....

I have had two and am about to have my third c section. My OB says three is the maximum they like to perform, though depending on the amount of existing scar tissue they will advise you if you could have another. Time between pregnancies also play a factor, my friend who has had two children by c/s over nine years ago just gave birth naturally:thumbsup: my gf's partner is a doctor and he has forbidden her to have a child vaginally. Now if someone in that profession would opt for a c/s for there loved one I would feel pretty confident in the procedure. Just do whatever you need to to have a healthy baby.

I have had three and after each birth the ob has come down and told me that I am ok to go again lol. It just depends on the individual woman. We aren't planning anymore but it's nice to know I could go ahead with another pregnancy if I wanted.
