Fix You by ColdPlay
PLease forigve me by Bryan Adams - reminds me of some hard times
For completely bizzarre reasons - "Trying to throw your arms around the world" by U2 - an ex boyfriend used to say it was my song.
Also Autumn Leaves (jazz classic) - "but I miss you most of all, my darling, when autumn leaves start to fall"
And "I will" by the Beatles "who knows how long I've loved you, you know I'll love you still, will I wait a lonely lifetime, if you want me to, I will".
Oh, I have a playlist called "Sad Songs" for when I feel down and I want to sing myself into a stupor.
They include the Theme from Brother Bear (thinking of that movie gets me)
A song by Peter Stuart called Bring You Back (http://www.peterstuart-fans.com/BRING_YOU_BACK.html) :(
Kasey Chambers Song - Paper Aeroplane (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/kaseychambers/paperaeroplane.html) :( :(
and more recently - Foster and Allen's - Maggie, which was my grandad's favourite song and played at his funeral. :(
I'm a sucker for a sad song

*play Fix You*
When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
I will try to fix you
Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I
Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you.
*sob*sob* :(

"Daddy's Little Girl" by Kippi Brennan. I danced with my Dad to that song at my wedding.
Daddy take me with you
I promise I'll be good
Daddy this is next time
And Mumma said I could
Riding in the front seat
Heading down town
With an ice cream cone
I'd wrap him around... my little finger, tighter than my baby curls
You can make a tear go a long long way when you're daddy's little girl
Then it goes through stuff like teaching you to drive, not wanting to watch you make mistakes, loving you deeply and ends with
What'll you do when your Daddy's gone and your Daddy's little girl...

Bugga, now I'm crying
When I've really got the urge to cry, the Les Mis soundtrack works everytime. If I'm really in a bad way, I'll start crying at Fantine's death (pretty close to the start). But in any situation Eponine singing "on my own" ALWAYS has me howling like a baby. Its all good, but the REALLY sad part goes:
I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life I've only been pretending
Without me his world will go on turning
The world is full of happiness
That I have never known!
I love him ... I love him ... I love him
But only on my own.
Brings tears to my eyes, even typing it :o ((SOB))
Cheers
Three songs - make me cry. "Eloise" by Barry Ryan, "Wednesday Morning 3am" by Simon & Garfunkle and "God Only Knows" by the The Beach Boys (lyrics follow)
I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me?
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on, believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me?
God only knows what I'd be without you....
Oh dear - have to get a tissue now.... :(

Puff the Magic Dragon ... Dragons live forever, not so little boys. Painted wings and giants rings make way for other toys. One grey night it happened Jackie Paper came no more. And Puff that mighty dragon he ceased his fearless roar. His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain. Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane. Without his lifelong friend Puff could not be brave. So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave.
OMG I'm crying now, what is it with that song. I used to cry over it when I was a kid too! Is there a psychologist in the house, maybe I'm not right in the head?!

O's Mum, we had a slightly sadistic music teacher in high school that made us learn Mars out of The Planets. I played trombone, and Mars has such a boring repetitive bassline! lol. I love some of the pieces in that suite, but they're a pain to play so now I can't hear it without wincing.
My tear jerker is Everybody Hurts, by REM. And yet it's comforting too and got me through some very bad days.
When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes
Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on
'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone
If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on
Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts. You are not alone
hey Martha,
Thats the song hubbie has penned for his funeral...(should anybody attend...)
He loves that song!!

KB, I like Nightswimming off the same album better, but it doesn't make me cry. A bit odd to be planning your funeral so young isn't it?
No worries about the Holst. Playing alternate 5/4 and 3/4 time (or whatever it was) was interesting, the first 10 times. Even more interesting when half the bassline would get stoned first
Hmmmm..............that would be a bit funny........
As for planning his musical recital....I'm afraid DH is just as melodramatic as me!!
No...not really...he's had a few health scares in his day....so he just got a little prepared once upon a time..but enough of that!!
We're here to talk about MUSAK!!!
Am currently in love with James Blunts new album 'Back to Bedlam' and Song no. 4 Goodbye my Lover makes me blub everytime. I hadn't listened to it for a little while and was listening to it in the car by myself. Must have been having an extra emotional day cause I was sobbing by the time it finished then I had to get my act together and dry my eyes so i could go into the shops :o
Also Ben Harper's 'Amen Omen'.
MarthaM, I love REM's Nightswimming too. Doesn't make me cry either though, reminds me of backpacking through Turkey in Summer :D

Someone mentioned Savage Gardens "I knew I loved you before I met you" ***sob*** I love that song, I'm sure they didn't mean it to be but it's a great song for pregnancy! Tears In Heaven makes me sob, to think of the loss of a child is heart wrenching. Celine Dions " My heart Will Go On" has been played at recent funerals I've attended and whilst it never made me cry before, I can't hear it now without wanting to cry.
Run away train. Can't remember who sings it. Came out in the early 90's. It was a song about run away kids and problems they had. Just used to hurt to thing about them. It was more the film clip.
Also fly by Celine Dion and Breathe in Now by george.

Warning Sign by Coldplay.
My brother left the Sari Club not a minute before the bomb exploded. He lost five mates. He had massive survivors guilt and these lyrics always make me cry when I think of him.
A warning sign,
I missed the good part then I realized,
I started looking and the bubble burst.
I started looking for excuses.
Come on in,
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in,
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
That I started looking for a warning sign.
When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.
A warning sign,
It came back to haunt me and I realized,
That you were an island and I passed you by,
And you were an island to discover.
Come on in,
I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in,
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones,
That I started looking for a warning sign.
When the truth is,
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is,
That I miss you so.
And I'm tired,
I should not have let you down.
So I crawl back into your open arms.
Yes I crawl back into your open arms.
And I crawl back into your open arms.
Yes I crawl back into your open arms....
We all went and saw Coldplay a few months later in 2003 and I had rung the record company to ask them to dedicate a song to the boys killed as one was a particular Coldplay fan. When Chris Martin came out for an encore he dedicated Amsterdam to the Coogee Dolphins I welled up like a fountain. My faith in rock bands restored.
the song that always gets me is "In Dreams" by John Waite

Your Song - Elton John.
Just before my DH and I got married he was picking out songs for our wedding day as our wedding song and he chose that one by Elton John.
But on the day we never got to play it, but the strange thing was we stayed at the Sheraton for the night and the next morning when we went down for breakfast the piano man was playing the song. It was such a coincidence and it makes me cry everytime I hear it now.
another song that never fails to bring me to tears is "In the ghetto" by Elvis
Really really lame I know but 'Little Ray of Sunshine' make me cry - maybe because I have 2 boys but more because it reminds me of how wonderful you feel when you first see your new baby!! I am crying thinking of it!!
'Best of My Love' by the Eagles is the song I've cried TO the most - that was before I met the love of my life
Ohhhh, meshan, my dad used to sing Little Ray of Sunshine to me when I was a little tacker. It always makes me smile and think of him.
Beautiful boy by John Lennon........ pass the super sized box of tissues please. Just the title makes me all misty.
I have a feeling some of the christmas carols this year might make me shed a tear too. The first christmas with my baby will be one to remember.

If anyoff you love a good music movie. My favourite movie is called Hi-Fidelity with John Cusack and it also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones. It is to me a realistic look at love. John works in a music store and he talks about songs and how they make us feel and what compilations suit each occasion. It is sad and funny at the same time. I have different songs for each occasion. While I was getting stiched up after my c-section. My daughter was screaming her lungs out as each new baby does. So I held her under my neck when I finally got to hold her, and sang to her "You are my sunshine". She instantly stopped crying and my husband looked around to find the doctors and nurses crying. Afterwards they said that it had been one of the most emotional births they have had to do. Life is short and so many song writers can sum up how we are feeling at a particular time with a song. They can cheer us up, bring us down, make us mad and inspire us. If you haven't guessed I love music.:D

I't's amazing that I just found this thread because up until 2 days ago, no song has really made me cry BUT - I have just started listening to Kelly Clarkson's new album and the last track, "Beautiful Disaster" just sends me into hysterics. I don't know why but it is so beautiful and it's recorded live and her voice is amazing and I'm 30wks pregnant and ....... weird :o

The last song - Elton John. I was really young when I first heard this song and it made me cry then, and it still makes my cry now
Yesterday you came to lift me up
As light as straw and brittle as a bird
Today I weigh less than a shadow on the wall
Just one more whisper of a voice unheard
Tomorrow leave your windows open
As fear grows please hold me in your arms
Won't you help me if you can to shake this anger
I need your gentle hands to keep me calm
'Cause I never thought I'd lose
I only thought I'd win
I never dreamed I'd feel
This fire beneath my skin
I can't believe you love me
I never thought you'd come
I guess I misjudged love
Between a father and his son
Things we never said come together
The hidden truth no longer haunting me
Tonight we touched on the things that were never spoken
That kind of understanding sets me free
'Cause I never thought I'd lose
I only thought I'd win
I never dreamed I'd feel
This fire beneath my skin
I can't believe you love me
I never thought you'd come
I guess I misjudged love
Between a father and his son
My tear jerker is Everybody Hurts, by REM.
Yep, that's my one too. Got me through some dramatic phases as a teenager and I still stop and listen to it the whole way through.

What a lovely thread ... just reading the words from some of your choices made me cry!!
A personal favourite is Smile. I used to sing or hum it while I b/f so it reminds me of a very special time in my life. I still sing it to them before they go to sleep. I think hearing me sing is enough to make them cry too:o
SMILE
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Kenny Rogers - She Believes In Me always gets an emotional response ... and no cracks about Kenny either!

Every song makes me cry lately
and also i am not sure who sings it but "in the arms of the angels" it was played at my aunty's funeral and makes me ball'Angel' by Sarah MacLachlan. Is it a beautiful song!
'Don't want to miss a thing' - Aerosmith was the bridal waltz at our wedding. It makes me cry.
'Wonderful Tonight' - Eric Clapton also makes me cry. It was also played at our wedding.
Fly - by Celine Dion gets me everytime. My Aunty used it for my 6 year old cousins funeral. Very sad :(

Any sad/slow song can get me emotional, I'm just a big softy!
One in particular is "Wind beneath my Wings", which reminds me of my late grandmother (cause we were just that to each other). We were very close and when I travelled overseas for a year, she said this song kept her going and reminded her of me. Now that she has passed away, it gets me even more emotional.
Another one that get's me every time is Andrea Bocelli's "Time to say Goodbye", he has such an amazing voice, it sends shivers through my spine.

Angels....by Robbie Williams because it was played at my dads funeral.
I agree with Brenda about Goodbye my lover..........I have only heard it a couple of times and have felt tears on the way!! Also Maghan I had no idea puff the magic dragon was so sad.........I remember belting it out at school thinking it was a happy song!:D
So many songs...so many tears. I love a tear jerker!
Paul McDermott's version of "Throw your arms around me" has made me cry, as has Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing compares to you". We signed the wedding register to Andrea Bocelli's "Con Te Partiro" which translates to "I will go with you" (as opposed to the other version - "Time to say goodbye" - it was sung in Italian but we had the English translation in the service booklet and everyone cried - and I cry every time I hear it!
I'LL GO WITH YOU (Con te Partiro-English Translation)
(E. Sartori - L.Quarantotto)
When I'm alone
I dream on the horizon
And words fail
Yes, I know there is no light
In a room where the sun is absent
If you are not with me
At the windows
Show everone my heart
Which you set alight
Enclose within me
The light you
Encountered on the street
I'll go with you
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you
Now, yes, I shall experience them
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them
When you are far away
I dream on the horizon
And words fail
And yes, I know
That you are with me
You, my moon, are here with me
My sun, you are here with me
I'll go with you
To countries I never
Saw and shared with you
Now, yes, I shall experience them
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them again
I'll go with you
On ships across seas
Which, I know,
No, no, exist no longer
With you I shall experience them again
I'll go with you
I with you

Quiet Riot's Thunderbird which was actually the only song of theirs that my Mum liked - sorta is now my song to her since she died. (Lyrics in case you dont know the song http://quietriot.lyrics.info/thunderbird.html )
Candle in the Wind i also find sad they played it at my BF's grandmothers funeral a few months ago which they did a slideshow of pics of her- very moving..
Unchained Melody & You'll never walk alone!
Dont wanna miss a thing---Aerosmith :)
It was DH and My song when we met. After my son was born (15 weeks early) the first night I was sitting in NICU just praying and begging for him to make it, that song came on the radio. I can just hear the beginning notes of it now and cry like a baby!!

When my niece died she was only 19,,, she had a bad car accident,,,there was 600 people at her funeral... They played "You raise me up" by Josh Groban Every time i here it i feel like there is a pain in my heart.
Also "angel" Sarah mclachlan...anything by her really. "Blurry" by Puddle of mudd if you can download the video clip its even sader when u watch it.
The offspring have a song called "gone away" & i love the lyrics well they are sad i wish someone better would have sung it though. but here's the lyrics
Maybe in another life
I could find you there
Pulled away before your time
I can‘t deal it‘s so unfair
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven‘s so far away
And it feels
Yeah it feels like
The world has grown cold
Now that you‘ve gone away
Leaving flowers on your grave
Show that I still care
But black roses and Hail Mary‘s
Can‘t bring back what‘s taken from me
I reach to the sky
And call out your name
And if I could trade
I would
And it feels
And it feels like
Heaven‘s so far away
And it stings
Yeah it stings now
The world is so cold
Now that you‘ve gone away

man i tell you i have thought of so many more songs... but its weird like you said sad songs...but ive also been thinkin of songs that just hit close to my heart...wether it be love loss or joy. I watch alot of movies & thats where i hear alot of sad songs... or Tv shows like Smallville "somebody save me" Remi zero or Roswell "here with me" DIDO " I shall believe" Sheryl crow or when buffy had to kill angel..they played "falling from grace" Sarah mclachlan... Or if you havnt seen it go hire the movie "where the heart is" Or "anywhere but here... Another Sarah mclachlan song "i will remember you"
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Remember the good times that we had?
I let them slip away from us
when things got bad
How clearly I first saw you smilin' in the sun
Wanna feel your warmth upon me,
I wanna be the one
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so tired
but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge
of something much too deep
It's funny how we feel so much
but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside,
but we can't be heard
But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so afraid to love you,
but more afraid to loose
Clinging to a past
that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness,
deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had,
oh you gave me light
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories

Anything by sarah mc, she is amazing... The one that gets me everytime at the moment is "Goodbye my lover" as mentioned before - i howl everytime! It is such a painful song!
"I just called to say i love you" by stevie wonder - my daddy and i danced to thins at my wedding. "Your song" - we signed the register at our wedding. "Busride" by alex lloyd - our bridal waltz
" If you want to sleep the whole day through
I will, be right here beside you.
If you want to take the world on
I will, be right here beside you"
And everytime i hear my man sing "beautiful boy" to DS, i am brought to tears.
Oh there are sooooo many!
Matchbox 20 - "If you're gone" - one of those 'ex' songs!

One of my favs also but i love "dont stop dancing" that had me up screaming along bawling my eyes out hehehe i had all my friends shaking their heads LOL ! Mind you i dont think i sat down at all for that concert hehehe
I have to agree Sarah McLachlan is just well omg if you havent heard her DO SO NOW !!!!
I have two that always make me cry :
Bon Jovi - Thankyou For Loving Me
It's hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There's no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
We'll leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words tonight
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky's a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you'd make believe
That you believed my lies
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
For parting my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me
Lock the doors
We'll leave the world outside
All I've got to give to you
Are these five words tonight
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn't see
You parted my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
When I couldn't fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn't breathe
Thank you for loving me
And
Missy Higgins - Sound Of White
Like a freeze-dried rose, you will never be,
What you were, what you were to me in memory.
But if I listen to the dark,
You'll embrace me like a star,
Envelope me, envelope me...
If things get real for me down here,
Promise to take me to before you went away -
If only for a day.
If things get real for me down here,
Promise to take me back to the tune
We played before you went away.
And if I listen to, the sound of white,
Sometimes I hear your smile, and breath your light.
Yeah if I listen to, the sound of white ..
You're my mystery. One mystery. My mystery. One mystery.
My silence solidifies,
Until that hollow void erases you,
Erases you so I can't feel at all.
But if I never fell again, at least that nothingness
Will end the painful dream, of you and me...
If things get real for me down here, promise to take me to
Before you went away, if only for a day.
If things get real for me down here, promise to take me back to
The tune we played before you went away.
And if I listen to, the sound of white
Sometimes I hear your smile, and breath your light.
Yeah if I listen to, the sound of white
Sometimes I hear your smile, and breath your light.
And if I listen to, the sound of white.
I knelt before some strangers face,
I'd never have the courage or belief to trust this place,
But I dropped my head, 'cos it felt like lead,
And I'm sure I felt your fingers through my hair...
And if I listen to, the sound of white sometimes
I hear your smile, and breathe your light.
Yeah if I listen to, the sound of white.
The sound of white,
The sound of white,
The sound of white.

I always find anything slow from Bon Jovi always makes me cry though heheh :o
A lot of songs make me cry, but not neccessarily because they are good songs :D
Anyway there is a group called James and they have two songs in particular, "Laid" and "Getting Away With It" that give me goose bumps all over. Whether it's the singers voice or the lyrics I don't know but they really give me the chills.

Too many to name them all but one that comes staright to mind is Noiseworks 'Take me Back'
Wow, what a great post!!!
I can't believe how many songs actually make me cry either, now reading this there's so many that I can think of...
dee dee - you mentioned "In Dreams" by John Waite. Is this also sung by Roy Orbison? The lyrics are...
In dreams I walk with you,
In dreams I talk to you,
In dreams your mine all of the time,
In beautiful dreams...
This is a song that reminds me of my Dad; not that I remember him as he was almost 2 when he passed away. But, apparently, he loved Roy Orbison and this makes me think of how I walk and talk with him in my dreams. Sniff, sniff.
Supermum - you said "Smile"... I love this song and sing it to my ds when he's sad.
I also love "Close To You" by The Carpenters as this reminds me of AJ and how...
"On the day that you were born the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust in your hair
And golden starlight in your eyes of blue...."
And how blue those eyes are! I was even breastfeeding him one day in a parents room and heard it playing over the speakers in the shopping centre and started balling my eyes out. The other mothers must have thought I was either crazy, didn't like breastfeeding, or was in pain, LOL!
My df also sings "All My Life" by KC and JoJo to me and this always makes me shed a tear - even though he sings it a little off key now and then, it's still beautiful to me!
I love "Air Supply" and "Two Less Lonely People In The World" - my song to him!!!
I'm now downloading all these songs that you've all mentioned and probably gonna sit here all night crying my eyes out whilst listening to them! Thanks guys LOL!!!!

I get quite emotional with songs if they have personal meaning.
'Breathe' by Faith Hill (it was our bridal waltz - happy memories)
'Your Song' by Elton John (my husband sang it to me at our wedding reception)
And for a sad cry - 'Because of You' by Kelly Clarkson. (because of the words - she wrote it about her parents divorce and how its affected her, and I can relate to that all too well). When she cries in the film clip its not put on at all - real emotion. :(
Thats just a few anyway.....
My immortal (evanescence) was out when we miscarried, so that alwats does it, i also agree with tears in heaven.
But.......... lately everytime i hear "good bye my lover" by james blundt i break down!!

Definitely the song from City Of Angels, Iris by the goo goo dolls...
....And i don't want the world to see me, cause i dont think that theyd understand....when everythings made to be broken, i just want you to know who i am.
I'm with you guys on "Goodbye my Lover". Even though its written from a guys point of view, anybody who has ever split up with their partner and just didnt want to let go of them cant not be affected by James Blunt singing those lyrics. I bawled my eyes out when I first heard that song!
Same goes for Jeff Buckley's Last Goodbye - saying goodbye to a much loved partner knowing that if you stay together, you'll only hurt one another worse than you already have.
'Scuse me, pass me the tissues.... :(

The Living Years by Mike and the Mechanics always makes me cry. I hadn't heard it until I was about 3 months pregnant and almost pranged the car because I was crying so hard listening to it on the radio.
It reminds me that I should always tell my friends and family that I love them, no matter what our disagreements are, because you dont always get another chance.
Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
I know that I'm a prisoner
To all my Father held so dear
I know that I'm a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thought
Stilted conversations
I'm afraid that's all we've got
You say you just don't see it
He says it's perfect sense
You just can't get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talking in defence
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It's the bitterness that lasts
So Don't yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different day
And if you don't give up, and don't give in
You may just be OK.
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye
I wasn't there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say
I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo
In my baby's new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years
Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It's too late when we die
To admit we don't see eye to eye

Ta so much TeenyT for finding this thread - how lovely...sob
I didn't see this first time around, now reading through all these posts, I have cried all over my Salada's
I hear you about Jeff Buckley, though, as well as his "Lover you should have come over - and yeah, heymamma - 'tis a sad thing indeed. He was also very easy on the eye...
Anyway, the songs that make me cry in really awkward places, are as follows
Into my arms - Nick Cave - to be loved like that.....sigh
Viens Mallika Sous Le Dome - Howard Blake - just moves me so much
Slip sliding away - Simon & Garfunkel - really poignant
Beautiful Boy - John Lennon...sob
First time ever I saw your face - Roberta Flak - sob, sob
Maggie (My grandfathers funeral song, as it was for Seekrit's)
Shilo - Neil Diamond *chin tremble*
Bright Eye's - I forget who sung this - maybe to the movie Watership Down??
" Bright eye's burning like fire, brighteyes ........how can eye's that burned so brightly suddenly turn so pale...........I think it was about rabbits...sheesh!:o
I used this song to describe to DH how I felt about him & now whenever I hear it I well up. Its a beautiful song & once you hear it, it stays with you, its called 'Feels like home' & is by Chantal Kreviazuk.
Somethin' in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There's somethin' in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life
If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've been so alone
And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
A window breaks, down a long, dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright, 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see, through the dark there is light
Well, if you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
And if you knew how happy you are making me
I never thought that I'd love anyone so much
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way the back where I come from
It feels like home to me, it feels like home to me
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong
It feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

I've always loved, "Stand by my woman" by Lenny Kravitz...the words and the way he sings the song give me shivers and a tear every time.
Another one is from the soundtrack to "Roadhouse" with Patrick Swayze (I know, bad movie!) it's in the luuurve scene (the best one in a movie I think) and it's called "These arms of mine" but I don't know who sings it...love that song - tear up every time.
Must make a special mention to "This ain't a love song" & "Always" by my boys...Bon Jovi...especially the live versions.
*lightning crashes ~ live..
I get goose bumps everytime I hear this song..:(
*Beautiful ~ James Blunt..My little brothers think Im 'their angel'
*By my side ~ Ben Harper..The song we danced to at our wedding.
*When she believes~ signing song at our wedding.
*Iris ~ The Goo Goo Dolls..
When I had pnd, It was my song to the world!!
;)
"Angels brought u here" by Guy Sabatian, i know but the song was released not long before I found out I was 7mths preg. I had that and "I Finally Found Someone" but Michael Buble playing in the delivery room (hmm Thread piece)
Kat&Tiny
The Living Years, I had forgotten that song, I haven't heard it in years. That song reminds me of "The One That Got Away" an ex that I'll never forgive myself for leaving.
*sobsob* now u've done it
The songs that generally bring a tear (or a torrential waterfall) to my eye are songs that other people would not find emotional at all. It's rarely the lyrics, but rather the memories attached to them that have me blubbering like a fool.
One such example is La Isla Bonita by Madonna. Not a sad song at all but it gets me all misty eyed because it reminds me of my sister (who lives half a world away). I also get wistful over a number of other 80s songs for that reason - they were songs from the era of my elder brothers and sister and so they are songs that I associate with them.

songs that make me cry now are ones that were played at a good friends funeral in jan after he was killed in a motorbike accident on christmas eve. they are: Everything i own- bread. - the mother of his kids played this as a tribute to him. also Ghetto Gospel by Tupac. he said this was him all over and also puff daddy's i'll be missing you.-this was the song played as the pall bearers walked his coffin down the aisle.
i also cry with Angels- by sarah mclaughlin (sp?) and also another song that was played at another good friends funeral a couple of years ago is shaggy's "you're my angel"
i also love James Blunts Goodbye my lover. - makes me want to have this song played at my funeral when i go.
If Tomorrow Never comes - Garth Brooks / Ronan Keating
"And if tomorrow never comes
Would she know how much I loved her"
Family Portrait - Pink
"Can we work it out? Can we be a family?
I promise I'll be better, Mommy I'll do anything
Can we work it out? Can we be a family?
I promise I'll be better, Daddy please don't leave"
And from the Musical Rent - One Song Glory - Adam Pascal

It's actually a classical piece that gets me... Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven.
It just has this sadness about it...and I love that it doesn't have lyrics. There are songs that I think could get me really sad...but it's ruined by words that have no meaning to me. With Moonlight Sonata, I can make up my own meaning...depending on how I'm feeling.
There's also a piece of music, that I'm yet to uncover the name of, in Pleasantville. If you've seen it, it's when Tobey Maguire (as Bud) has just given "Mr Johnson" (from the Soda Shop) the art book...and they're looking through it. The music is really nice...makes me sad.
Most recently...that music piece that Ally plays on the piano in THE NOTEBOOK. I'd love to know what this is called, so I can get a copy!
Yeah Wind beneath my wings gets me too as it was the song that was played at my Nanna's funeral ... I unfortunately couldn't get to Ireland to attend the services but knowing the song helps me feel that I was there in a small way.
Also Wonderful World brings me back to earth. Not so much brings me to tears but a real grounding song anyways!!
Before my dear mother passed, she compiled a cd of songs to dedicate to my sister and I.
Here are a few....
I hope you dance - Lee Ann Womack
I'll Be - Reba McEntire
Holes In The Floor of Heaven - Steve Wariner
Listen to them once...and you'll be howling...I promise.
A song that always gets me howling for no apparent reason (I dont have "issues" in this direction) is "Cats in the Cradle".
And if Im having a hormonal one, do NOT start playing Eleanor Rigby or Shes Leaving Home by the Beatles
I walked down the ailse to POWER OF LOVE - Celine Dion and every time I hear that, i wanna choke her...what was i thinking :D
Lmfao.
