Hello Pinky,
My 6mo boy unlatches frequently during feeds. If I can describe it, it's almost like he is doing laps in the pool - takes a few sucks, looks away, then goes back on the boob again. I've tried everything - dark room, no eye contact, no stimulation, different positions, stretching periods between feeds (I try to feed 4-hourly now) - nothing seems to work.
This has been happenning since he was about 2 mths old. He has got reflux but I don't think that's the reason as he is on medication and is not in pain.
I've asked doctors, nurses, lactation consultants, other mums - noone can give me an explanation, other than "it's just the way he is". He is gaining weight and plays happily during the day, so he must be getting nutrition from somewhere. But I'm still very concerned as this just doesn't seem normal...
Can you recommend anything to help us out?
