My son has had a bad reaction from his 12 month immunisations, and I was just wondering if anyone else has gone through the same thing? About 9 days after his needles he woke up in the morning with a bright red rash around his mouth, and spots on his face. No fever or anything just the rash, and then it went to his body with patches of fine rash on his arms and legs and spots everywhere else. The rash around his mouth seems to be gone now, but he's still got a few spots on his stomach, back etc. His gets has bad skin in general so I'm used to him having a coat of hydraderm every night.
His behaviour hasn't really change except he has gone back to having two sleeps during the day which is nice. :)
I rang our GP (who does his immunisations) and he said that as long as he doesn't have a fever then not to worry and the rash will clear up on it's own.
Just wondering if I'm alone on this or if other toddlers have suffered from thier 12 month injections?

Ds never got anything that bad but he usuallty get a little infection a the injection site. He actually went on anti-biotics for one lot of needles ( 6wks i think?!)
Hi mumofnoah,
Please dont worry too much. My DS done the exact same thing. I thought he had meningicoccol! Thankfully he didnt. He still has a few red bumps here and there. But he too went back to 2 sleeps.
If he seems happy dont worry about it.
Take it easy
Ciao
AT 12 months its the MMR injection, the red rash is usually a non contagious form of measles, after having it injected in their body some kids get this rash,we only found out after we raced my nephew to the hospital thinking something was majorly wrong. most places dont explain in detail that this will happen. But all is ok.

Thanks guys makes me feel a bit better. Kelbel was your son premmie by any chance? Noah was born at 5 pound 4, 5 weeks early sounds like your son wasn't much bigger?
You wouldn't tell now though, he weighed in at 11.32 kgs at his 12 month check up :)
Hi mumofnoah!!
Yeh, Liam was born 4 weeks early with an emergency c/section due to me having pre-eclampsia. He was 11 kgs only a few weeks ago. They definitely make up for being born little!
My sil had a little girl last nite and she weighed in at 8lbs 5oz, and to think that Liam was littlier than her was unreal- hard to imagine now.
How is Noah's rash going?
Take care

He's still got a lot of spots on his back but everywhere else seems to be cleared up.
I know what you mean about forgetting how small they were my friends bub wasn't as tiny as Noah and she looked really tiny to me :)
A little of the topic but wow isnt it amazing to see how your 2 little bubs have grown into big healthy boys. Nathan was born 4.1kg and at 12mths is only 9.8kg, I guess it all evens out in the end.
He was supose to be having his needles today but he came down with a cold so we will try again next week. I'm hopeing he doesn't have a reaction like your little one.
