Does nayone have any experience or opinion on these suburbs....

Hello stellarella

Gray - No, No, No, not really a friendly suburb (in my opinion, pm me if you want to know more)

Farrar - Yes as it is a new suburb.

Driver - No, some good parts and some bad parts of Driver but in my opinion, no.

Bakewell - Yes, I would say it's a middle class newish suburb.

Stuart Park - Yes, close to Darwin City but it's expensive.

Gunn - Yes, apparently DH says it's the place to "be" in Palmerston.

there is also a suburb called Darla/Roseberry it's also the place to "be" in Palmerston but is expensive.

Hope that helps, if you want to know more just let me know..

hi,
i have to agree whth mumma duck... grey is not too friendly!! i dont actually live in palmerston i live in casuarina area but did work in chikdcare out there for a few years and know alot about grey and parts of moulden!!! the newer suberbs are apparently good except that the houses are very close to each other and lucky to have a metre between side walls... if u are renting the expensive suberbs are usually the nicer ones and that is why they can charge what they do.. well hope that help... pm me if u wanna know some cas suberbs
merry xmas

I'm with Mumma Duck too. I lived in Driver (near the high school) for a while - that's the worse area. We never had a problem, but the houses aren't fantastic. The better part of Driver is okay.

We then moved to Woodroffe which was a bit better, again, we had no problems. We wanted to stay in Palmerston so we could afford the rent on a house with a yard so we could have our two dogs.

Another nicer area in Palmerston is Durack.

My son went to the Daycare in Moulden - basically he went there because it was the only place we could get in. I was working in Casuarina, but the wait lists for any place that way were way too long. Maybe bec knows my little boy. While our place in Woodroffe was walking distance to the daycare it's amazing how different the areas can be within a stone's throw.

Thanks guys...Its hard to know where are the ok suburbs when ive never been there.

Some of the rentals are Very expensive....I think we will have to pay between 300 and 350 for a decent place.

Thanks again guys, and I appreciate any assistance anyone else has to offer.

The only one i know is Stuart Park - close to the city, a lot of newer places, and yes pretty pricey.

We live in Nightcliff, right near the water - and i love it here! Close to the beach, pool, parks, shops, library, markets!

Most of the new areas of palmerston are good I live in Gunn and never had a problem with it I have also lived in Durack and that was great too.
Northern Subs Anula and Wulagi are great lots of parks and so is woodleigh Gardens not sure about any others.

Hope that helps and you find a nice place.

Hi just saw you were moving to the top end and wanted to say how much we LOVED living there! I am so envious of you right now!

Darwin seems to be one of those one of those places that are drift in drift out when I was living there the question wasn't "were you born here?" it was "where were you born?" Which I think makes it a easy place to meet people because almost everyone has been "new" at some stage....

As for suburbs we lived in Wulagi which was so fantastic..... If you are a darwinite you are forever paying out on people for living in Palmo but on a whole is like anywhere it has its good and bad!

Be careful renting though I had SO many friends that didn't get bonds back through many different real estate because of small things like scuff marks on the walls so be sure to write down ANYTHING you see on the inspection report..

HAVE FUN - at least you have missed the worst of the build up.....:fingerscrossed:

Just wanted to say thanks for all the replies. We found a nice house in Gunn and are settling in. I wrote down everything on the inspection report...I think the real estate thinks im a bit pedantic!! Hahahaa....

Really liking darwin so far but I dont know a soul....so I think im going to have to brave a play group or something....might take ox for swimming lessons too...

Anyway cheers...:D
