Hi there,

I have just re-read the previous thread about Colic, Wind and Reflux and I am more confused than ever about the differences between each.

My DS is 15 weeks old and bottlefed and I think that he may have a wind problem, but not sure.

The problem is that after a feed sometimes up to 3 hours later he is still dry burping or bringing up small amounts of liquid.

He is very healthy, gaining weight and most of the time very happy.

However, I think this is affecting him having his sleeps during the day as he will go to sleep for say 30-40 mins and then wake up crying, still tired and as soon as I pick him up and pat his back he burps again and then seems to settle again.

I have been doing the following to try to assist with the problem.

- Adding thickener to his formula,

- Adding infants friend,

- Burping half way through feed and at the end.

But does not seem to make any difference.

Now I am even more confused as I spoke about this to a Health Nurse today and she told me that I didn't need to use the Thickener or the Infant Friend's drops anymore as she seems to think that if babies have wind it does not affect their ablity to sleep.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What formula are you using? I had same probs with Bianca when she was on S26 gold, we changed to NAN 1HA Gold, and inproved 100%

Hi Renee,

Thanks for responding.

I have been using S-26 Alpha Pro Gold, and actually bought the S-26 AR formala yesterday, so will see how that goes, fingers crossed.

It's so hard, trial and error, I have half used tins of this and that all over the place.

If it doesn't improve will give the Nan 1HA Gold a go.

Thanks again.

Hi my twin boys also had the same prob when they were on S26-Gold so went to S26 - AR and there was no change so my GP actually told me to give the Karicare AR Thickened Formula a go and now they are fine no probs.

Good Luck..

You could also try adding Infacol to bottles instead of infant's friend. You don't need to use as much, it doesn't smell, and it's specifically for helping relieve wind. My GP recommended it. You can get it from supermarket in baby aisle

You answered your own question - he is happy and gaining weight - don't change a thing - vomitting s only a problem if they scream alot or don't gain weight - trust me changing babies is much easier than finding answers to impossible questions - some babies just vomit!!!
