I may be in sight of the Murray, but on the NSW side- and although I have been for a few years, norty DH and I only just changed the car's rego/insurance over to the correct state :shame:

So what's the go with green slips?
I have no idea what we have to do, because I forget what we had to do last year with one car, and the seller of the other car paid our green slip for us when we bought it (lucky us!)

Which do we pay first? Green slip or rego?

And do I have to go get another blue slip? Please tell me no!!! (we need new tires baaaad- but it's too much $$ right now  )

I'm looking at all these bills and I'm mighty confused- help me please!!

Not too sure about the blue slip - sorry - it might depend on how long ago your car was registered in NSW. But when DH spent 2years in QLD he had to get the car a blue slip to register it back in NSW.
You will need to pay your green slip first & if your car is more than 2yo you will also need to get a pink slip ($28) from a certified mechanic. Just take your rego papers to them & they only take about 5-10mins. I think it shoudl say on your rego papers 'inspection required' or something like that for the pink slip - it might have something similar if you need a blue slip.

but once you have both pink & green slip done you should also be able to register your car on-line too - heaps easier than standing in line at the RTA!!

hi pookie

blue slip is for cars that have been unregistered for more than 3 months i think !

you need to get a pink slip, not sure it will pass tho if you need new tyres? then get a green slip. make sure you shop around because when mine was due i had a difference of about $300 between quotes. then you have to go to the RTA (or on-line) and register. :D

Thanks girls!! Ok, I renewed the green slip after checking that it was the cheapest (me being the younger, 'at risk' driver and all).

And it's the pink slip that I need to get next, of course, we only had to get the blue slip last time because we were changing over from Victoria to NSW. Gotcha!!

Ok- tomorrow's job: get pink slip. Oh, probably too close to Christmas. Oh well. Might just have to slack off on all of this for a while

Ta!! :D
