View Full Version : Thrush
This is embarrassing :o I have been on antibiotics as I had bronchitis and now think I have thrush but it's not like thrush I had before (no sting when I pee or discharge). Is there an over the counter treatment I can get, just incase it is and what is it called?
Thanks :(

hi ,
I've used canestan which you can purchase over the counter. Worked within the time they specified. Talk to your pharmacist, i'm sure there are others available to treat your symptoms.
dont be embarassed hon - the only thing embarassing about thrush are the pathetic ads on TV!!! they are TRAGIC!!!!
canestan is a simple treatment... and can be bought at any pharmacy.. dont know if it is safe to use when pregnant or if bfeeding though...
xxxx
Thanks...might send DH down to the chemist in the morning to buy some :D

I have an adverse reaction to Monistat preparations. Sort of like pouring acid on an open wound would be the best way to describe it. Enough to reduce me to tears for several hours after inserting the treatment.
I mentioned the reaction to a pharmacist, and apparently it is not an uncommon one, so be wary.
Canestan has a different active ingredient than Monistat, and that doesn't seem to affect me at all.

When I was about 8 months preggers I had this weirdness around "that" area.
I have always read that you should never self diagnose anything downstairs, especially when you are pregnant.
I went to the GP and she said it was probably thrush but took a swab just incase. Couple of days later it came back as thrush and I used Caneston cream which fixed it up quite nicely.
Peace
