Hi Everyone
Has anyone out there taken your baby to the cinema?? I know it sounds crazy! But Hoyts offer a Mums and Bubs cinema session the first Thursday of very month and I would like to go along. My son is 10 months and is at the crawling stage, is this just held in the normal cinemas with the rows of seats? or do they have a bigger space with more room for them to crawl around?
I would appreciate if anyone has any advise for me.
Thanks
:p

Hi clairereid, I took DD to one of these sessions when she was about 7 months old. We went with a friend whose DS was 10 months old at the time. It wasn't a very well-attended session, just about a handful of mums with babes-in-arms. Our kids were about the most animated ones there, although I've been told it can get a bit raucous in school holidays or when there are lots of toddlers!!
It was a little hard paying attention to the movie, but DD had a breastfeed, a short nap, then she and her little friend crawled around the carpeted space for the rest of the movie. We had a blast, and I'm planning on going again soon!
I say go for it - if it all gets too much, you can just up and leave and catch the DVD later!! :)
ps. yes it is held in one of the normal cinemas!

We went once and I enjoyed it. DD was only 3 or 4 months old but watched about half the movie. She's such a tv addict, lol. It's just the regular cinema, so there is sometimes only limited room for prams at the back. You can't have them in the aisle.
My other suggestion is to be prepared to cover bub's ears during the previews. I always find these to be very loud, and they don't turn them down for the bubs session. The sudden blast of sound as the MGM (or whatever) intro is played can be startling.

Hey Nicole and Martha,
Thanks very much for the info on this. I think I will give it a go. This month it is Pride and Prejudice and I think it could be a bit too long for Aiden to sit through. If it was The Simpsons or Natalia from 9 News then there would be no problem!! Not sure where he got his liking for blondes!
Your right, if he is not behaving or wont sit still, I can just leave.
Thanks again

We go a fair bit. My friend takes her DS, and i take MJ both 5.5months old. It was packed last time with little bubs. THere were toddlers running around too.
I'd recommend it, its gets you out of the house :)

Hi There,
I go alonng with my daughter (3 months) we have been to four movies now and look fwd to them every fortnight. They are just held in the regular cinema.
The first time she slepth the whole movie, the second time she slept for half and was awake for half, the third time she just wanted to be cuddled for the whole movie and last time, we had a mixed bag, she was awake, had a feed, filled her nappy (in a quiet time I might add :-) and then slept for the remainder. Mind you it was Pride and Prejudice and something like 2.5 hrs long...
The joy of it is, no-one minds if bub is a bit unsetlled and you can just pop up the back if they need a break from sitting with you or go down the front where they can have some floor time!
And isn't it always great to see other Mums....any excuse for a cuppa and chat after too!
This week Flightplan is on which looks really good....I hope you get along and have a great time :-)
Which cinema will you visit?

I went and saw "Pride and Prejudice" a few weeks ago. I got to watch a fair bit of it, but Libby decided she didn't want to be in the pram and as a consequence I spent most of the time supervising her crawling up and down the stairs and squealing with excitement! She had a ball - and all the other patrons were giggling at her. Mind you, most of the other little ones looked like they were about 2 months old at most!
I hope you went along, Claire, it really is an "experience". :D
Oh wow, I didn't realise they did this! I am going to look into it right now. Is it at all Hoyts or just selected ones? Thanks for the heads up.
found the info.. and it's on near me.. woohoo! I've been missing the movies.

Hey everybody,
Thanks so much for the advice. I really want to go along, just have to wait for a movie I want to see. I dont think Flightplan is for me, looks far too scarey 9 I am a big scaredy cat!) I guess I am a bit nervous coz Aiden is 11 months and walking around the place, he would sit happy in his buggy for a while, but after that Im not too sure. I guess there is only one way to find out!!
Thanks guys x
