Watch programs like brotown, motorway patrol, scu etc just to listen to the accent???

I am almost captivated each time they come on and just have to sit there through the entire program! Sometimes, I can't believe that I used to say some words the way Kiwi's do :p .

I miss NZ, miss the culture, miss the accent and miss so many grocery items ;) but I don't think we will ever go back to live - just visit.

In the mean time, I will sit nostalgically in front of the box and practice my "kiwi speak" :laughing:

I watch the last two of those .. but not just to hear the accent lol - I like the genre of the programs... if I want to hear the accent and give mine a reality check - ill just ring home:laughing:

I still say so many words as I would if I was home.. and I get constant ribbing from friends for it - and I still miss many things from there.. but like you .. I wont go back there to live. Tried it for 9 months a few years ago - and sorry to say - but NZ really is in a time of the past.. horrid wages and expensive living costs.. as much as Id love to be near family ........

Ill do what you do and sit in front of the tv and pretend I am there :thumbsup:

I havent lost my accent at all, the only thing that has turned is the terms that I now use....texter/felt that sort of thing

I like to watch the shows though because I watched them back in nz but also because I can say hey I know where that is etc....lol

*lol* Oh I love hearing that accent, it's so funny. We've been here 3 years and my accent is as strong as they day we moved. I can really hear it in others though and in myself sometimes too.
