Hello,

Can anyone advise me of a good GP who is used to dealing with babies on the Brisbane Southside? I have been to two different GPs and found both of them to be unhelpful with answering my (a new mums) concerns. The first doctor actually had to call another doctor in the centre to answer each of my questions (which I am certain were not unusual for a new mum)!

I am happy to travel pretty much any where on the southside in order to take bub to a good doctor.

Thanks for your help.

I've been going to a wonderful lady dr at Slacks Creek Medical Centre, since i was about 9 or 10....we've been going to her for about 11 yrs, and i went through her all through my pregnancy, and shes the only GP thats ever dealt with gwen. Shes wonderful, even had photo of all her kid and baby patients on her walls lol.

PM me if you'd like her name and address.

I take both my kids to a fantastic doctor at Red Hill - not exactly southside but close to the city...I'm in Hawthorne and I don't mind one bit going over the river to see him. He's absolutely wonderful with kids.
PM me if you want his name.

Where abouts on the South are you? I've got a great GP in Greenslopes. I've been taking the boys there since we moved into the area when they were 3 months old, and I just had my first antenatal appt there this morning for 'freckles' . I find them excellent. They're in the medical centre on Plimsoll Street across the road from the Dep of Transport.

Is that the practice on Windsor Rd at Red Hill? There a number of really great doctors there and a lot of them have specialised interests (obstetrics, paediatrics etc.). They're definitely worth the drive!

We go to Dr Julie Murray in Capalaba (across fromfootprints lifeline shop) shes fantasic, my son has been really sick his whole life and if shes ever worried at all, will get a second opinion from the hospital. BUT it sometimes takes a while to get in there, and if it does then i go to Dr John Craven (his mum was my primary school teacher lol) at capalaba medical centre (near mcdonalds)

Thank you so much for the suggestions! Now I just have to decide which one to go with :-)!

I'm at Carindale, so Capalaba, Wishart and Greenslopes are all handy. Even the Red Hill centre sounds good but as there are closer suggestions I might try either the Capalaba or Wishart GP suggestions for DS next appointment. Thanks for your suggestions.

My GP is in the City but he used to practice on the soutside. I've been going to im for 10 yrs now. He's awsome & can always answer any questions or concerns I have. He's got 5 children of his own so he definately knows about kids. The website is www.citygp.com.au (http://www.citygp.com.au) ask for Dr Ian Hazell. It's very easy to get to by car or public transport. Good luck. I know how hard it is to find a gp you can trust.
