Hi, I went and seen my doc about 2 weeks ago and i said how ive been really upset and moody lately and get ****ed off with everything and anything. Im snappy and yeah really hard to live with. I have had drepression for around 7 years now but have never talked to anyone about it. So she thinks it has just turned into pnd. She told me to take zoloft. But i havent as im worried about taking it while breastfeeding. She also said to see a shrink and get choag therapy (spelling?). But some days im happy and some im just a right b***h. Im not sure if i should just take the tablet and get help or not. DH always says im nuts or a psycho or something a long those lines. I cry over nothing and i hate my body. I just dont know what to do or how im meant to feel?. Im at a loss. :( I dont want DD to grow up thinking im a raving looney. Sorry i just felt like talking.

hayles, check some of the other threads.. i think someone has said previously that zoloft is one of the best anti-dep drugs to take while bf'ing!...
i'd take the medication and seek counciling.. it might not be for you, but better to try it out and see?
Yes, Zoloft is the number one best anti-d to take while bf, if has the least rate of transfer to the baby of all of them.
I'm just taking the pills at the moment, and that is working for me, but if it wasn't really, I'd definitely do the counselling or the shrink option.
All the best, I hope you find something which works well, really soon!:hugs:

I agree.
Bf'ing is great, but nothing nurtures a baby more than a happy mummy.
I have heard that zoloft was fine while breastfeeding too, but if you are not sure, get a second opinion to put your mind at ease. But if it comes down to an EITHER bf OR take meds... I think your little one would appreciate a smiling Mum, feeding her. :)
I was on Zoloft while breastfeeding and pregnant - and it is safe. My doctor told me that if they were wanting to treat my baby for depression with antidepressants via breastmilk, they would have to give me at least 1000 times the dose (I was on 100mg) to have an effect on him.
If you want to talk more, I'm happy to share my experiences with you :)
