I have been researching and researching this and am starting to get a bit frustrated - I am interested in a side by side stroller as DS will be almost 2 when this new baby is born in Feb and I need to get another stroller/pram.

My question is: are there ANY out there that will fit through doorways and aisle's/checkouts easily? Or is this a hopeless search for the perfect side-by-side?

HELP! :o

My side by side fits through all doorways and the pram checkout at the supermarket. Although the way they've changed Woolies, it now fits through all the checkouts.
Most of them do as far as I know.

wow - really?! I have been hunting around the internet looking at all the baby stores and width measurements thinking that I had to find the skinniest side-by-side known to mankind to make it through any opening with it. Thanks. :)

Can I be nosy and ask what sort of side by side you have or would recommend then?

I know this is kinda off topic a little but I wanted to say I saw a very nice tandem pram at Big W by Valco. (The sort where they are behind each other) and both the front and back layed down and both had very nice sun shades as well being pretty easy to manouver. (we had a drive around hehe) and best of all it was less then $300!

thanks krisseh - it that the Runabout? I think I have seen that one on a couple of websites too actually. I thought maybe the side-by-side prams would be a bit easier to turn then the tandem ones though, but I'm not really sure.

Everytime I go to put DS into one in a baby store to have a push around he cracks it and tries to wrestle his way out of the pram! It doesn't make for a very pleasant test-driving experience.

I've got a Graco one. I don't mind it, it's done it's job for us. I personally didn't want a tandem one, but some people love them. There are downsides to side by sides, they are right next to each other and if your toddler wants to 'play' with the baby it might be an issue. They are also a bit uneven when you try to steer with only one child in it. I have still liked it though. My two love sitting in there next to each other now (DS is 2, D is 7 months).
If you are in Brisbane and want a second hand one, I'm probably selling mine in the new year for around $100.
Good luck in your search for the perfect pram, they are hard to come by.:D

thanks for the offer tickle but I am pretty much at the other end of the state. LOL. I will go and have a look at one today if I can though.

Shezi - I have heard good things about the Mountain Buggy's also but I keep looking at the price and thinking my hubbie will freak if I bring one of those home. He is still in denial that I will even NEED a two seater pram - MEN! I would love one though. Although, from what you are saying it may not fit in the back of my Forester...

I have a side by side steelcraft 3 wheeler, and I wish I didnt buy it. Takes up most of the space in the boot (we have a station wagon!!!), and Im going to have to buy a stroller side by side for when we go away.

My toddler does play with my bub. Yesterday she was trying to feed him a bottle lol. But all in all, hes not that interesting and Sophie very quickly gets bored lol.

I have a Childcare twin stroller and love it. I have my niece 3 days a week so I need it for then and its really good. Fits through all doorways and aisles. I only paid $200 which was really good. Folds up nice and small as well, I've only got a tiny boot and fits in their perfectly. It lays right back so you can have a newborn it in. Good luck with finding something.

Hi, not all twin strollers/prams fit through doorways.

I have twins and had 3 different ones.:o The emaljunga didn't fit through our doorway. (the spokes on the wheels stick out a bit) I also have an umbrella stoller that doesn't lay back (valco) and that is even wider. But the macclaren is pretty good width wise. It's good for a newborn and toddler too as it has idividual boot covers. The only thing I didn't like about it is it's a bit of a pain to lay down.

Do you definately want a side by side one? I have a Phil 'n Teds E3 for my 2 year old and newborn and am totally in love with it. Not side by side but can seat one baby, one toddler, a baby and a toddler or two toddlers. It's the most compact double pram I have seen.

I cant recommend them enough!
