Hi Girls,

My DD has slept through the night since she was 8 weeks old...the last week she has been waking on and off during the night, sometimes for a feed, sometimes she just needs resettling...do you think my milk supply is getting low and that is why she has stopped sleeping through? She doesnt seem to be any more unsettled than usual, although she is feeding for shorter amounts of time? Also with the xmas period, diet tends to go out the window a little, could the lack of home cooked meals be causing it also do you think?

TIA

Look, to be honest, you've been extremely lucky to have a sleeping-through baby this long! And you might just have to accept that she is now doing what most other babies her age do, which is to wake during the night. If she's usually a long sleeper, then most likely she'll go back to that eventually, and this is just a phase.
Your supply isn't getting low - more likely she's going through a growth spurt and needs more feeds. And don't stress about lack of home cooked meals (sheesh, you should see what I eat :o) as long as you're not doing drugs or drinking alcohol, breastmilk is always better than formula regardless of your diet.
I co-sleep with my boy, he wakes up and I put him on the boob, and I fall back asleep. He sometimes is asleep before me - ie he just needs that comfort suck to help go back to sleep. But other times he drinks for ages and ages. It might be hot weather too? Is it hot where you live? She might just need more feeds to keep her hydrated.

A growth spurt is probably much more likely than supply problems. she might just do this for a week or 2 to build up supply for the extra she wants, and then go back to sleeping thru again. Or maybe you have been very lucky to have her sleeping so well. Bubs tummies are not really designed to go all night without a feed.
What your eating would probably not be having an effect on her sleeping, if she had an issue with the milk she would prob be unsettled during the day too.
The shorter feeds are also prob not supply - rather you are both becoming more efficient with feeding. As bubs get older they are much more efficient at draining a breast, and your body is much more efficeint at producing the right amount at the right time.
Everything sounds just about right - so try not to stress about it.

Yup, sounds like a growth spurt - it sucks I know, but it won't last forever. You sound like you're doing a wonderful job:thumbsup:

I can't say I have the "answer" but I know the feeling!!

DD slept through (midnight-ish through to around 6am) for a few weeks but is now waking around 2 and 4 for night feeds.

Not much fun for me, but I realise sleeping for long periods at such a young age (16 weeks tomorrow) is unusual, so I'm just going with the flow and co-sleeping to try and get some sleep.

Also with the hot weather it's possible our LO's are thirsty rather than hungry.

All I can suggest is go with the flow!
