It depends on what animals you are talking about :). My birds get bird seed, my dog gets biscuits and left overs and my fish get pellets or some byrine shrimp or vegies. My fav fish gets cucumber 3 times a week and its gone within 10mins.

well being a vet's assistant i feed my dog pal meaty bites(as other biscuits can be real salty) and it has all the minreals and proteins needed it there diet.,
and has roo mince as it a healty for there diet and nutrients for a good diet (but need to be wormed reguarly as its raw meat ) and chicked wings are good source of calcium,as well for the bones and muscles and vitamins for strong bones okay ill stop now!
also making up raw meat and pasta and rice with olive oil is great source of all i have said above for there coats and diets as well just cheaper and dont cook the fat out the meat as it loose all the extra things that the dogs need!

Mine gets Large Breed Puppy bow-wow chow (he's still a growing boy, LOL) for breakfast and dinner, and a lamb shoulder bone for his teeth and occupational therapy during the day most days. Sometimes he might get a lamb shank instead, but not too often at all, because the vet told me that the larger the dog, the less fresh meat they should have, as it can muck up their calcium/phosphorous balance, which can affect their skeletons..
That's it. My vet maintains that he gets all he really needs from the puppy food.

my puppy gets eukanuba biscuits & occasionally a bone. Vet says he gets all his nutrients etc in the food no need for real meat...
sometimes he gets nothing...if he been training with me he gets his dinner quota of biicies as treats...

I change his meats each week but he has something from a tin, mixed with lil dry bits as he is still a puppy. Most nights though he gets what we have lol he loves his vegies and fresh meat!

Hi,
I am a vet nurse, a good quality biscuit is the best thing for your dog, tinned food is mainly water and fat, chicken necks are good for small dogs too clean there teeth, pasta, rice and meat are okay to supplement their diet but it is not balanced, many factors are involved in a balanced diet so that is why biscuits are best,
Kelly:)
