Hi all,
Now that summer is coming and my boy is nearly 4 months I was keen on stopping having to wrap him. How do I go about weaning him and how long might it take?

Hi there,
I think they recommend wrapping with one arm out & alternate at every sleep, then once they're happy to sleep like that just wrap the body till thats ok then nothing.
Personally we went cold turkey when MJ hit 4.5months, took about a week then things settled down. Now she just prefers to sleep on her side
Hope that helps :)

 Thanks for that I'll start from the very next sleep.
Hi,
My dd was still being wrapped at 7.5months :o I started doing the whole leaving out one arm thing, but she just started wriggling even more and getting tangled up in her wrap. I then decided to go cold turkey, and suprisingly dd settled just as easily. But having said that, every baby is different, and some take longer than others to adjust to sleeping without their wrap.

If you dont' want to stop wrapping have you thought about wrapping in muslin. It's cooler and might help until your bub is ready to wean himself.
If you want to wean gradually start by unwrapping one arm for a couple of nights and then 2 arms and then just wrapping the legs for a couple of nights and then nothing.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips. I have started sleeping him with one arm out for most sleeps but I find that when he is overtired he finds it difficult to settle still without the wrap. I will definately try muslin if I need to wrap on hot days though.
Cheers ! :D

to wean eliana out of being wrapped i also left one arm out at a time but wasn't successful so tried leaving her legs unwrapped then her arms till eventually she was only wrapped around her belly then by that time she was in sleeping bags & still is though now has a summer weight one

i agree with cold turkey. I did the one arm thing for a night and had to go in a billion times because she was all tangled up. Cold turkey took three days and she is now sleeping better than before. It was a little messy, but when she woke I just popped in, readjusted her back to the bottom of the cot and popped out.
i weaned my DD off wrapping by stopping with her day sleeps to start with. then once she was happy with that i stopped with the night ones. it worked really well for her, it only took one night.
