Has anyone used these pail pal things?
Pail Pals are a 2 inch piece of food grade paper soaked in a unique blend of essential oils and a non toxic dilutent. Placed in your dry nappy bucket, they will make your laundry or nursery the nicest scented rooms in the house. They are potent and should last 3-4 weeks before needing to be changed.
Do they actually smell nice and do they really last that that long? They are $1 each so I'm thinking a pretty good price if they live up to their description?

I have some, but won't be buying them again, they do smell nice but it dosen't last long.
I am just going to put some yummy ess. oils on a tissue in the bottom of the bucket from now on....like orange and lav and geranium:)
Cheapest way to make your nappy bucket smell nice is to sprinkle some bicarb soda in the bottom (it absorbs smells, you can put some in a container in your fridge/cupboards aswell.). Add a few drops of essential oils such as eucalyputs, tea tree oil, lavender, or whatever you like. Hey presto:wizard: your nappy bucket smells fantastic!
I've heard some ppl like the pail pals as it lines the bucket keeping it clean from poo. I find it easy enough to just rinse the bucket out. thinking out loud you could always put some baking paper in the bottom and put essential oils on that.

I havent but i find that because i am washing every 3rd day its no biggie cause i rinse it out with disinfectant then wipe an essential oil around the base.
Just make sure if you are using essential oils to keep them well away from PUL as it can ruin it !
I plan to finally get some large wet bags before this next bub arrives that i will use to line my buckets makes life easier & they have a little area in them to use a little satchet you can put the oil onto. But then thats if i can be bothered hehe.

Nope never used them.. my nappies don't sit for long enough to need them. However, i got one today from CB's  as a little gift to say sorry for the mix up i think.. i don't think i'll be using it :D the pail pal and the specific seller again.

Hi  just wondering if you can tell a rookie like me what a wet bag is?
Cheers,
Brooke.
I just leave my nappy bucket sitting in the sun for a little while each morning and it stays smell free.

Hehehe no probs :D
Ok ummm you can get them from a few sites online cant name them here otherwise i shall be in trouble hehe.
But they are bascially a bag that you can get in different sizes to suit the need. Say a size that will fit in your nappy bucket or a smaller size that you can use when out & about.
They are usually made of PUL with a drawstring or a zipper close. I have been told to go the drawstring because the zipper fabric can get wet from the nappies causing wicking ( like a leak ). Which is a drama if you are using them while out !
The beauty of using them in your nappy buckets means that you dont get any residue in the bucket so dont need to wash it all the time & you just throw the wet bag in with the nappies & they are all washed together !
Not sure whether you have sorted everything out yet but you dont soak your nappies like they did way back when you just use an empty bucket then wash the nappies as needed which is called " dry pailing " so having a wet bag can save time & effort.
Hope that answers your questions !
I bought a citrus circle (similar to a pail pal) but haven't used it yet. WE line the nappy bucket with a industrial laundry wet bag and it just gets washed with the nappies.
I also have a wool wet bag - I need to knit some more.
Hehehe no probs :D

Ditto Allyoo - thanks for the info! I had no idea you could get wetbags to line nappy buckets! I might look into that as I have a 'special' nappy bucket so I want to keep it nice :D (It cost $30!)
Hmmm might give them a miss and give the Bicarb a try. I'm washing everyday mostly but when I leave them till the next day they are a bit smelly!
Thanks :wizard:
I know a lot of people use it, but be aware that bicarb may deteriorate your nappies, especially if you are using it in conjunction with either vinegar or hot water.
