View Full Version : Toy Libraries
Have you hired from a toy library?
I had a squiz at the toy libraries on the bubhub index and there's one around the corner from me. I'm thinking of hiring an exersaucer rather than buying one and I was just wondering how people's experiences were with various toy libraries? :D
 I am a member of two local toy libraries and they get a big  from me. Its great to be able to borrow big things and then get rid of them again.
My sister wanted to buy DD a big car thingo for christmas and I've manged to put her off as I can borrow it from the toy library and we just dont have the space to store that kind of thing.
You can also usually hire bigger stuff for birthday parties which we did for dd's first birthday and it went down really well.
I'm sure it also teaches a good lesson for kids about sharing and not needing to personally have every toy out there. We borrow it and then return it so someone else can have their turn:D

We're in our local toy library and it's Absolutely. Brilliant. I couldn't recommend it enough. We don't have a huge amount of space in our house, and the more toys we own the more we have to keep tidy which is ... let me say NOT my strong suit! So having things that have to go back is wonderful. Also, we've found that the two weeks allocated for each borrow is just enough for most toys to get "played out", and then they're ready for the next challenge. If we bought the toy rather than borrowed, it would probably still just get played with for a couple of weeks and then it would just sit on the shelf (or worse - get strewn around the living room)
Only one problem - the frantic friday-morning hunt for missing pieces. BIG, brightly coloured toys is what you want!
They're GREAT. What a wonderful invention. It saves heaps, teaches the kids how to share and every second saturday (when we change over toys) it's like Christmas!
 sounds like a goer then :D
Cobey looks like he'll be an active wee one and I don't think he'd do well restricted to an exersaucer once as he gets his head around crawling so I didn't fancy spending the $150 or so on them :)
cheers girls!

A friend of mine runs one of the biggest in Brisbane at the Grange. Membership is $30 a year and hire starts at only $0.50 a MONTH for toys. It's amazing!

Hey Seek,
Some friends of mine use the one at Kenmore and find it fantastic.
