Hi all,

Just wondering if it is actually realistic to BF while pregnant. I know you CAN but would you WANT to?
I'd love to hear from any people who did it orwho tried but found it too much. My bub is 9 mo and I'd like to BF until at least 12 mo, but we're considering trying for #2 soon so I'd like to know before we take the plunge (so to speak!). I felt pretty disgusting with morning sickness last time so do you people think this is likely to be an issue as well? I'm just worried about being too tired and sick to look after Jo properly, or to be able to enjoy her.

Let me know what you think - I'd appreciate any feedback.

Most of my friends have and I intend to. Sometimes the change in taste or drop in supply can cause babies to be a little offended and bf less but many come back through the pregnancy and definitely after the birth when they get to have another dose of the miracle food colostrum.
This has heaps of info and stuff written by mamas who've bf through pregnancy.

Enjoy! :)

Breastfeeding is the bees-knees in my world - when I was feeding Mik (she was 4months old) I fell pregnant. I kept breastfeeding until bubba in belly was 12 wks at which point I thought I should give bubba in belly devoted nutrition. As it happens we lost this bubba one week after I stopped - Life can be ironic!

If you are into the preggie & breastfeeding tablets you may want to up the dose while doing both preggie and feeding.

Out of interest this is called 'Piggy-backing' - and lots of women do it very successfully - good for you.

Hi Lucy,
I'm 27 weeks pg at the moment, and still bf my son who is 20 months.
I think breastmilk is just so good for children, that i want it to be Tylers choice when he weans, so i knew, when we were trying for this baby, that I would keep feeding.
It is proving to be a challenge, I notice that i am a lot more tired this time around, and my nipples are quite sensitive.
I sometimes have black moods where I feel like weaning, but then i think, well, I've made it 27 weeks, there's not too far to go now.
I specifically wanted to tandem feed, if Tyler was agreeable, because i think it will help ease the transition for him, adjusting to the new baby.
I really strongly believe in the immunilogical benefits of extended bf, and i don't think it is fair to wean Tyler before his time, just because I have chosen to become pg again.
They are only little once, i want to do what I sincerely feel is best for their health, while I can.

Thanks guys. I will do some more reading and thinking about it. It sort of depends on how I cope with being more tired etc (and on whether I get pg  ). I appreciate your thoughts.

Another preggie breastfeeder here... My midwife thinks it great I'm still breastfeeding full stop! I must say my boobs are more tender, but I tried to gently wean DD and she clearly still likes the comfort of boobie so I shall continue until she decides she's finished. I must say I'm mighty unpopular amongst friends and family for my choice

Unpopular with friends and family - !!!

Good for you for believing in yourself and doing what you know to be right for your family. If we all did as others thought we should - Hmmm!

Keep up the good work!
