I just booked in my u/s for 2 Jan and the lady said it will be $110 + $15 for the video!!
Is this right? I don't remember it costing money last time:confused:

Are you having it done privately (ie. not in the public hospital).
If so it sounds pretty reasonable to me - mine was $250 plus $15 for a dvd/video
Lucky I'd reached my medicare threshold and I got most of it back.

same place I did last time...just can't remember paying for it...maybe we did? The doctor was going to book me into the hosp, but they don't do videos, so I asked.
We'd get monet back though hey?

Yep sounds about right. With my DD the 20 week scan was done through the hospital so it was free.

This time, i paid about $120 through a radiology clinic and they said i wouldn't get anything back. When i went to medicare to claim other things i had the receipt with me and thought i'd check if i get any back - i got $50 (a bit more maybe - can't remember)

The medicare lady said always just bring your receipts along and try to claim...you never know.

I just remembered, we have private health insurance for extras only...do u think that might cover it?

ours was done at a public hospital and it was free since i am covered by medicare. how much does it cost if i wanted to have one of those 3d or 4d scans or whatever they are? it would have to be done somewhere besides the hospital coz they dont do them there.

I had mine on Tuesday and paid $265 (including $15 for DVD). I have reached threshold, so luckily got most of it back.

My first pregnancy we paid $130 for the ultrasound & my second pregnancy asked to pay $180 for it. Instead I just looked around for a place to bulk bill, if you search around a bit more you could find someone that bulk bills too I'm sure

That sounds about right to me. I payed $200 and got about $110 back.

That was at a 'womens imaging centre'.

My 17 and 20wk scans cost $185 each with an $85 rebate. This was for a 2D scan and they couldn't do DVD's or videos of it.

Paid $235 yesterday - included the 3D scan & DVD, plus a few pics. Last time i think i claimed back about $90ish?? from medicare, and our PHI covers none of it. I remember asking our Private fund what you can claim back with pregnancy and there was not much! Antenatal classes (so long as they meet the 'requirements') and up to $20 baby items with an itemised receipt. Apart from that & the hospy stay - that was about it.

Never paid for any of mine with all 3 pg I had scans.

Emily I 16 scans and never paid for 1.

Kailah I had about 6 and didn't pay for any.

Where are you having it done?

I'd call your insurance company and ask them. I am covered by medicare (can't afford private cover:no: ) so maybe that's why?

I've only got extras cover, so I don't think it would cover this.

Kris, where did u get yours done?

All have mine have been free
I guess it would depend heavily on who your doc is and whether you are private or public as to whether you are charged.

I've had mine done at a public hospital and several different radiololgy clinics and at the radiolology clinics they take patients from both public and private systems so some patients were paying and some weren't .

I've always been a public patient either doing shared care with a GP, hospital midwives, or for my last one a GP/Ob who bulk bills .

I have never ever paid a cent for anything relating to pregnancy or birth care.
If you are a public patient then it defeinately pays to ask for a bulk billing doc.
