Walking on own

Hi there,
My 8 1/2mth old son is walking along furniture and I was just wondering how long it usually takes after that begins before they start walking on their own?

Hi gee your little one is doing really well to be walking around furniture so early !!. my little did the furniture thing for about 2mths before he started walking just short of his 1st b/day, his now 14mths old trust me he will be off before you know it and you will be to good luck!! smileysmum

My DS started walking around funiture at about the same age, he turned 1 last week and I am still waiting for him to walk on his own. I guess he will get there in his own time.

My DS started 'cruising', as they call it, along furniture at the same time as yours but he only started walking about a month ago at 14 months. We thought he'd be an early walker, but he was a very good crawler!! I must admit though he is not much of a risk taker, so he probably could have done it earlier but he was paranoid about falling over. He now walks everywhere and is always falling over!! ;)
I think they take that big step in their own time.
