I'd love to hear any tips about how to deal with morning sickness which for me is starting to turn into 'morning and night sickness'.

I'm approaching 13 weeks but feel that I'm actually getting worse. I've had mild nausea all the way through which was quite bearable but the last few days I've been vomiting fairly often. I thought this was the time I was supposed to start feeling better not worse :(

People have suggested to me Ginger tablets/biscuits/tea etc....has anyone found these or something else quite effective?

I've got to spend all next week working in Darwin where its going to be really hot and I'm worried that it's going to be a bit of a disaster week for me :o

Hi,

I don't really have any tips because I had m/s that bad I ended up in hospital on a drip (couldn't eat or drink anything (even water) for 2 weeks).

My only tip would be to post this further down in the section specifically for morning sickness, you're more likely to get replies as that's where people will read it.

Hi Missus S,

I am now 13 weeks pregnant and the M/S is beginning to be not so bad.... but with my first pregnancy, it lasted until I was 20 weeks pregnant. So I am only too aware of how horrible it can be....

These are the things that have helped me:

Sea Bands (get them from a good chemist) are designed to help with sea-sickness but they work for any kind of nausea. I wear them constantly (except doing dishes and having a shower) and they work FANTASTICALLY. They are an absolute god-send IMO, and the couple of times I've forgotten to put them back on after a shower, I have definately realised how much they do help!!!

The Blackmores ginger/B6 tablets really really really work, I can tell when I need to take another one because the nausea feeling comes back. They are also easy to swallow because you can break them in half.

Ginger biscuits, ginger beer, ginger lollies, etc etc. Ginger is natures anti-nausea formula.

Any kind of fizzy drink (if you're trying to stay away from sugary soft drinks, just drink soda water) because it makes you burp (don't ask me the science behind this..... but for me, it helps to settle my stomach after a meal!!!)

If nothing seems to be working, go to your GP and they will probably prescribe Maxolon - this worked better than anything else for me with my first pregnancy. The doctor who prescribed it to me had also prescribed it to his pregnant wife, so I felt safe taking it.

For me, that whole "eat dry toast" advice doesn't work - for me, the smell of bread brings on the nausea!! I also find that laughter helps me, so I like to watch DVD's of stand-up comics. Also when I play my Eagles "Greatest Hits" album really loud and sing along, I stop feeling sick (I'm not sure my neighbours like it so much, but oh well!!!)
So from all the advice you get, just try to work out what actually works for you. We're all different!! And what works for me might not work for you.... but I hope it does!!! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, and when the sickness gets you down, remember this: sick mummy = healthy bubby. It will all be over soon, and you'll be holding your precious bundle of joy in your arms.

When I was pregnant I would slowly get out of bed and make myself a nice sugary cup of tea.... after drinking this slowly I could usually manage some toast.

For sickness during the day I would drink something sweet like diet sprite.... that usually made me feel better.

Might be worth a shot. Goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy. :)

Go the Seabands. i found them the BEST! they are just bands with a ball that pushes on your pressure points on your wrist, they cost $22.00 from the chemist and trust me you wont regret it.

Thank you for all the great tips guys.

My manager mentioned the pressure point bands to me, I'll have to check them out following your recommendations. I bought a pack of Ginger Nut biscuits today and have been munching on them. I wonder if its OK to eat about 6 per day :o

Touchwood - I've been pretty OK the last few days and I survived the flight up to Darwin this morning with no dramas.

Thanks for your good wishes :) Big [[[HUGS]]] to u all
