I wish we could have wedding journals. For planning and just discussing our plans/ideas.
As the annoucments section goes...
I proposed to Adam a couple weeks ago.
Something I thought about doing a while ago.
Just really wanted things to be official all ready.
We're already planning our wedding, it's just so exciting. We never wanted to have a big wedding at all, infact we're that couple who said "we'll just have a JP marry us then we'll be off", but now, we just can't wait to have our wedding! And the more family and friends there, the better!
It's really hard to leave people out without it feeling bad.
We originally wanted a Viking wedding. But since searching online for vikinig props it's actually been pretty minimal. But we've been blown away by the Medieval theme of a wedding, it's actually quite similar to what we wanted. We're also very intrigued by the Pirate themed wedding.
I came across this website.
(Mods- I hope i'm allowed to post it...:o )
http://www.sydneyprops.com/home.asp
And I was amazed! Finally a company that caters to the millions of people that dare to be different when it comes to weddings, or just really have that desire to have a unique wedding.
Don't get me wrong, I love the outcome of tradtional weddings, but personally, I'd really like nothing more then my special day to relate to Adam's and My personality. I hope we can create the perfect atmosphere we've got floating up in our heads.
I've heard wedding planning is stressful, and it can be expensive. But in the end as long as you've had the most fulfilling day! Isn't that all that matters?
( budget, budget, budget time!!)
Please feel free to share your wedding theme?
Let bubhub know how beautiful your day turned out.
Also, If anyone has gone through Sydney props for their weddings could you possibly pretty please leave some feedback!:o :)

Yes! I don't know if she'll be able to walk by then haha. But she will still be the flower girl. We were thinking of having her cousin who will be 6 at the time help her down the isle.
I think i'm more looking forward to having a dress made for her to go with the theme then my dress! lol
Will Mason be the little ring boy? :)
well we are hoping... he'll be 15 months old maybe ill just have to tie the rings inside his pocket or something so he doesnt think they are toys and end up putting somewhere and us not knowing where they are... lol i pick up my engagement ring on saturday i might have to post a picture its getting hand i cant wait till saturday
Ashleigh<3
14-12-2006, 09:29 AM
True! Don't want him eating the rings! :p
I tried uploading my ring picture the other day but my computer cacked itself.
I can't work out how to turn my camera flash off. So it looks all bright and fuzzy.
I hope the mods don't delete the link.
I have so many more good links but it's probably best if I dont post them. :o

we're not getting married for ages (sept 2009) but as i'll be going back to work soon i know i won't get time in the future for planning so i've started early (we only got engaged 27 nov). our theme is an australian native bush wedding.
we're having all native flowers, with the colours of dresses, decorations, invitations etc coming from the colours of native flowers. i haven't totally decided on the flowers. if i go red and white it will be waratahs, kangaroo paws and flannel flowers or i might include yellow/orange with banksias, everlasting daisies etc.
it's a bush wedding because we want the ceremony in a little sandstone church in the middle of nowhere and the reception in an old shed on a farm. it's going to be very old-fashioned styling with old model a and t cars and clothing styles from early twentith century.
i hope that explanation makes sense. DP and i know exactly how we want our day to be, it's just a little hard to explain to other people.
we had silver and purple as our theme...
my mum how ever, had the most beautiful medival themed wedding, it was truly amazing, they made allll the props, (for less than $500! - then they resold for just over $10000!!) but anyway,
if you want ideas i can talk to my mum for ya

My theme was purple and orange! With silver accents chucked in (shoes, bag, etc)
We had purple fighting fish as our table centrepiece and gift for guests, table runners were purple and orange on alternate tables, lots of multi coloured fairy lights strung around the marquee, and we decimated our budget, but loved every minute of it!

My wedding was supposed to be in June 07 but because of a little baby surprise we're postponing till March 08 but no one except my parents know that yet!!
Our theme is a CInderella Story.
My bridesmaid dresses r the colour of cinderellas powder blue dress, my dress is ballroom gown style, we'll probably have horse and carriages (pumpkins aren't available! hehehe)
It very soft and pretty....almost magical. I also want this smoke machine for our first dance that blows ice smoke so it doesn't rise above ur knees, it just floats.....it looks totally stunning and won't affect my DF's asthma....only thing is it's $100 a min!! My dad said I can have it if I want it so I may just think about it for awhile!

We had a soft sensual sort of theme. With lots of candles and oriental lillies. Bridesmaids in a soft pinky lilac and I was in what they called 'wedding white' which was closer to ivory. It was so beautiful!

I went for Colorful & Fun!!
Main colour was Hot pink & Silver.
The Centre pieces where huge vases filled with bright candy & hot pink gerebras with big green leaves. & each person had a martini glass full of sweets & a heart on a stick name tag in the centre of the glass.
It looked fantastic, I loved it.

Wow! Pink is popular!
My DF wouldn't allow me to have pink, he'd say it was to girly and that it was his day too so we should pick a more manly colour..

i'm allowed to have pink if i want, as long as he doesn't have to wear pink! he prefers the idea of having red as the main colour. so i think it might be red, white and green for us with some yellow/orange thrown in for the flowers.

I have seen pumpkin coaches at a bridal expo in sydney. looked just like the one in Kath and Kel's wedding. Noice.

We got married in Sept; My hubby didn't want any pink but we had it anyway. My colour theme was pink and green, a mixed palette of olive and a brighter green (sounds gross but it was nice!) and dusty pink with a dark pink. We had our wedding on a farm, our plan was to make it a relaxed party with a beautiful ceremony - i had originally wanted to arrive in helicopters or horse and cart etc. End of the day budget didnt stretch, i preferred to spend the money on good food and quality alchohol, so arrived in our old magna ha ha ha!!
It was also important for us that children were welcomed and made a big part of the day. we had written our own ceremony and had our daughter included in it - we even gave her a ring which went missing about 5 secs later but it was worth it!
We did our entire wedding including 4 day honeymoon for under $10k - 115 guests.

My fav colour is pale green I'm hoping this can be one of the colours we use too.
I am getting married in May, if I manage to organise it before then. Just started ringing a few places today.
Don't have a theme as such but I like pink so I have asked my bridesmaid to find a pink dress that she likes. I am not making her wear any particular style of dress, she can choose whatever she wants. She has excellent taste and is the bargain shopper of the century so she will find something she is happy with. When my friend got married her bridesmaids had to pay $1000 for their dresses  I would NEVER do that to my bridesmaid, I think that is very unfair.
We will make my bridesmaid's flowers to suit her dress and my flowers will be white roses or lillies, haven't decided yet, probably roses though. I know I want a white bouquet.
My aunty does the flowers for all of our weddings so we can have whatever we want. I want a big bouquet. Not something small and tasteful and elegant, I want A BIG BRIDEY ONE, lol.
Cake, chocolate mudcake, probably with a cake topper like Olivia&Bellasmum had on her wedding cake, so cute!
I have to start thinking about my own dress. I want something simple, my DP will laugh his *** off if I turn up looking like Muriel but I do want something in white or off-white, with a bit of beading on the bodice, but not too frou frou.

I RECIEVED MY WEDDING DRESS IN THE MAIL TWO DAYS AGO!
I was looking for something medieval and I found it! I love it so much. And well, for $120 It's actually pretty darn good!
I thought I'd be paying a lot more then that as all the quotes I had recieved were around $2k mark...
Anywho, I'm quite pleased with my bargain hunting....
(I know, crazy that I actually bought a dress online...)

My friend asked, What dresses do we need to get. How much will they cost? And I said either way, I wont be making you pay for them because I'd feel so rude saying. "HEY YOU! YOU BUY THIS FOR $1000 OTHERWISE YOU CAN'T BE IN THE BRIDAL PARTY!"
I think I'll have dresses made. I know a few dressmakers, hopefully I can score a discount.
I'm cheap lol

That is a gorgeous dress. I would have loved something like that. Such a great price too. Well done :yelclap:
I'm cheap too, where it counts. I have a healthy budget for what we want, but I hate being ripped off.
My bridesmaid is my cousin and I was her bridesmaid about eight years ago (gee that went quick!), so I paid for my dress and shoes then so she can pay for hers this time - that's fair lol!
Yeah, the $1000  dresses looked lovely but not really a thousand dollars worth, just looked like nice dresses, but my cousin's bridesmaids looked just as nice and our dresses cost less than a hundred dollars I think, we got them made and they were gorgeous. At first I was a bit hesitant about wearing it coz it was a bit 'sexy' but she made me wear it and actually it felt great on the day. It had a plunging back and we couldn't wear a bra and I am a bit prudey. But it was a hot day, over 30 degrees, so she chose well!

Better to have it that way i suppose. I know of some brides who chose their bridesmaids dresses and well, chose them so no attention was directed at them what so ever... They weren't that nice at all.
I want my bridesmaids to feel beautiful too.
I wouldn't purposely make them look bad on the day as i've seen it in the past...whoops!

Ash good on you for bargain hunting - i bought my dress on ebay too! Your dress is beautiful!! And free postage - what a score! Are you going to get a little one made for Chloe?
Oh i wish i was planning a wedding again cant believe we have been married 3 months!

Your wedding sounds beautiful.:)
I found a so many great websites for wedding cake designs, how does one choose out of 1000 scrumptious designs!
I've found an idea for the dress I want Chloe to wear, I don't think i'll get hers off ebay, lol but most probably have it made.
We've been thinking about postponing our wedding to later on in the year. 5 months away just doesn't seem like enough time.
I don't want to look so pudgey in my dress either, so weightloosing time!

I loved my wedding (only hiccup was finding out i was PG 2 wks before, and then the rain - but it actually made the day even more fun!)
The cake part was easy for us my MIL makes the best ever choc mud cake with cointreau in it; usually with choc icing but i asked for white coz i love top deck, hee hee hee. She did it in a huge love heart tin and then wrote our names on top...
Theres heaps of awesome cakes i agree; those bridal expos make you put on 10 kgs with all the tasting! I love caramel mud cake too. What cake do you like?
I got addicted to theknot.com for planning it had awesome ideas and i loved stickybeaking at the real life weddings! you might even find some medieval ones in there!

i had pink, black and white as my colours. was allowed to do the pink, luckily... don't think he would have expected me to do any other colour.
and the boys didnt have to wear it. even won them over as they didnt have to wear ties, jackets or shoes!
something i wished i had of done, but didnt really think of till after.... if anyone is doing the bouquet throw, and getting a bouquet made up for that.... see if you can do smaller flowers that arent tied together.
so when you throw it, everyone gets a flower! i thought that was a cool idea if lots of single women... spread the love! (think i saw it on a show....)
