View Full Version : Exercise - Are you doing any?

I normally go to the gym a few times a week and do a fairly strenuous workout but since getting my BFP, I haven't exercised much at all. I have been quite tired and it's the last thing I've felt like doing when getting home from work. I'm starting to feel a bit blah and know I should make an effort to do something - maybe I could do the yoga classes and just some gentle cardio. Maybe do some swimming on the weekend, swimming is great when you're pregnant.

How about everyone else? What are your thoughts on exercise?

Absolutely! I know I am only almost 4 weeks gone but I am so obsessed this time as I refuse to put on 30kgs like last time.

I am doing and hour a day- all walking (fast) or swimming/walking or half hour walking and weights/pilate's.

I do not want to put on excess weight, struggled to lose it big time.

Also my body seized up last time as I was too sick and completely inactive. I lost ALL my flexibility and even a slow walk was agony.

I think my drop in fitness also contributed to a a not so nice labour.

I know I am :ecomcity: :ecomcity: but this is so important to ME this time. I will push myself no matter how crook I feel.

May need encouragement if the old MS kicks in!!

I really need a kick in the butt to keep fit this time round too!! Ive been so afraid of m/c up untill now that Im to scared to do anything! the Dr said take it easy but Im not sure she meant sit on the couch all day either lol!!

angelgirl- You are def on the right path with Swimming and Yoga, I think I am going to look into both of those after Xmas.

Jamb- I hear you on the doing thigs differnt this time around!! I gained 20kgs with DS and that was too much for me so I couldnt imagine 30kgs. I find it also hard because with my m/s I feel good while im eating and I feel :barf: when Im not so I tend to eat way more than I should, plus I never actually threw up with DS and havent this time round yet either.
so Im eating heaps and Exercising the remote controller lol!!

hey kellie,

yep i was soooo crook last time that the only way too feel better was to eat, spew, eat, spew, eat, spew.......... i seriously thought with the amount of spew i would not have put on so much but obviously ate more than what came out!!

Will try not to fall into that trap again, eating only gave temp relief so ....... maybe i can exert willpower instead???? Just gonna feel like crapola!!

I'd probably feel the same bout exercise re the miscarriages.

Angelgirl, just found out i am the virgo freak you chatted to in TTC- now i seem anal over exercise :laughing:

Last pregnancy I was still playing netball at this time (I stopped at 10 weeks). I was doing pregnancy specific exercise classes throughout, and only put on 14-15kgs. Up until 8 months I had only put on 9.

This time - nothing to speak of at the moment, and am already gaiing weight becasue of what I'm eating and NOT doing.

Pre BFP I'd been getting into Body Attack classes that are pretty full-on, but I do't feel as if I could sustain them at the moment. Or I'm a bit scared to do them actaully.

I'm going to start swimming and Yoga. My gym has a pool, and Yoga, Pilates, and Stretch classes. So I'm sure that I'll have no excuse.

haha! Not at all...you should have seen me with my exercise programme before I got married! Just wish I had the same committment to exercise AFTER the wedding! :laughing:

I was doing yoga and going for walks in the evenings with my DH, but the last few weeks I've been too exhausted to do anything. Hoping that my energy will rebound in a few weeks time and I'll be able to stop being a blob.:D
