Hi,

Wyatt is starting Daycare in three weeks time and Im so nervous and worried.

I initially have enrolled him in one day a week and will up it to two days a week if he likes it to make sure he gets the full benefit out of socialising with other children.

My concerns are:
1. He's a real Mummy's boy and hates me leaving him, even with his Nanna. He's fine if I sneak away and MIL distracts him when he goes to her place. But I feel like a real ***** doing this.
2. He hasn't been cared for by anyone BUT immediate family in his 2 years.

Any advice on what I should do before he starts on the 3rd of next month and what to do the day he starts to help ease my nerves and his. I really want him to have fun and get enjoyment out of this :) The centre is only two streets away so that an added bonus.

Signed, Nervous Mummy!

I totally understand how you feel. I have worked in childcare and am now a qualified teacher and I am still way to scared to send DD...not sure if we will. I suggest you go to the centre before he starts and talk with the teachers and tell them how you're feeling and ask them for advice. You could suggest to take him a couple of times before he starts just for half an hour or so with you there so he can get accustomed to the place and the people with the security of you being there. Then you'll have to slowly transition yourself out as he gets more confident. HTH:)

Thanks you, it does help :)

I am planning on taking him in a few days before he starts for an hour or so with me just in the shadows watching him IYKWIM? Hopefully he will take to it. He has shown interest in the place before when I dropped the enrolled forms off, so that's a positive LOL!
