Carols in the Domain????

We are going for the first time this year and i have no idea what to take.

Do you sit on grassy area therefore do i need to take a picnic blanket or are you seated????

Are there toilets or best to find a spot close to edge of crowd???

Whats the best time to get there for a decent spot???

I've checked out the net and it says that it opens at 12 noon and the lineup starts at 3pm but the actual carols start at 8/8:30 (i think).

Going go be a big arvo, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

oh.....and does it cost or just a donation?

It sounds great!! I would love to go here (to the Brisbane carols) but every year we have a baby at the age that would just be too difficult to manage sitting down for so long!!! Seeing as though there will be no more children for us, maybe in about three years we may make it

I love carols in the Domain :xmas:
I use to go when we lived in Sydney.
Yes you are seated on grass so its best to bring a rug, they do say no rubber backed rugs as it damages the grass too much but heaps of people ignor this.
I recomend getting there at least 3pm otherwise you will be either at the back or over to the sides.
There are heaps of portaloos but ofcause there is always ques.
Other things to remember to bring
a jumper
heaps of food and drink - they do sell stuff but it is very expensive
hat
sunscream

Its been quite a few years since I went last but they would always have the salvation Army selling a sample bag witch included candles and other goodies.

Hope you enjoy your night, it really brings back great memories for me
