Godparents.
We are having Harry's Baby Naming Ceremony in early April and I'm looking to see if anyone has any other ideas on what Godparents could be called. The celebrants that I have spoken to have called them Guadians or Mentors and Nick and i don't really like these. Guardians - too legal and makes me think of Angels and Mentors - too businessy.
When we decided to have Godparents for Harry we thought long and hard about it and we absolutly love our choices ( ;) bubbalove), we believe these are the right people to have that extra special bond with Harry and want to him to feel especially close to them. I don't have Godparents and feel that I have missed out in someway.
We haven't decided yet if we will or not keep the name Godparents but are just putting it out there to see what we get back.
So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and thought about.
Thank you in advance.

Yes Harry's Mum, I'm sure the 'Godparents' you have chosen are exactly what you guys are after.

No, but I'll get him to think. Have you asked the 'godmother'?

No not yet Kez, speaking to her over the weekend to let her know of the date and everything. Let me know what Dh comes up with (should be interesting ;) ).
I have come up with "Guide parents" and another suggestion i've had is "support parents". What you and DH think?

Thanks Amanda,
We decided to ask the people who this effects most Harry's Godparents and his Godfather wanted to be known as Harry's Godfather, and his Godmother didn't mind. So we have decided to keep the name Godparents. We just wanted to explore another names that other people had, just to see what was out there.

I'm in the same situation. Jac's namiing day is at the end of May and I'm struggling as to what to call her godparents. If we were religious in anyway I would still call them godparents but my partner doesn't want any ceremony at all. This is a compromise. I wanted a church christening and he wanted nothing, anyway can you help me?

Her godparents are both great people. Her godmother will teach her to be passionate and loving, be interested in learning new things and how to stand her ground (not that Jac will need any help being a Gemini and a Taurean!). Her godfather is a different character and teach her all of those things as well as how to live life to the fullest and will teach her to have a love of travelling.

I've been tossing up the idea of "Life Guide" how does that sound?

Hi Nikki,
I like life guide. But our "Godparents" liked to be called Godparents so that's the way we are going. Maybe you could ask the "Godparents" what they would like to be called?

When our son was christen Godparents where refered to as Sponsers, but they prefer Godparent. How about Godsangels (they are after all Angels looking after our little ones religous up bringings)
